Emmitt Holt dismissed from team

Recommended Posts

At what point in time does all of this land on the administration? Obviously, Crean should have been gone 2 years ago, but Glass' legacy is tied to a contract and not with Adidas. McRobbie would make a nice trifecta; I have never said this previously but he doesn't understand basketball at Indiana and never will. Is the NCAA hiring? He could conveniently commute from Bloomington. The slate is clean for the new president to get his ad to get his coach.

If that's accurate, you have to think that getting in trouble hanging out with Hanner, a former player that was dismissed for similar reasons, is almost more the reason for Holt's dismissal. You have to be really dumb to be on a basically zero tolerance, then go out partying with Hanner and bring two freshmen with you.

He was there.

As Coach K once said:

  • There are five fundamental qualities that make every team great: communication, trust, collective responsibility, caring and pride. I like to think of each as a separate finger on the fist. Any one individually is important. But all of them together are unbeatable.
Ha ha. Almost as good as Bruce Weber's fist speech before going down in the champinship game. Classic team motivation.

Apparently a second IU basketball freshman was at the scene of the citation according to mike miller

Can you cite this one? I don't doubt it, but would be interested to see proof of that.

I think the phrase "team chemistry" is overworked but what is the impact on this year's team?  Does this latest incident bring the team closer together or does it create a rift with behind the scenes finger pointing among the players?  And what does this do to the team as individuals and how they view and respect their coach?  Rhetorical questions that may or may not be answered as the season progresses.  For what it's worth, I do envision additional openings on next year's roster over and above the ones we all pretty much agree on.

Good thoughts there, Old Fart. I'm sure we will see the answer soon enough. I can see it going both ways, but if maturity prevails, they will grow and grow together.

This decision is consistent with the one that saw HMP and DD dismissals. I believe it is the proper course of action.

But its inconsistent with Troy and Stans multiple failed drug tests and the course of action taken there. No consistency or real punishment until it's really too late to salvage his career. Look no further than a 2 game suspension Hanner received for a DUI or preseason game punishments handed out to Stan and Troy. I also believe what Crean's done now is proper and deserving, but his lack of this previously has led his team to many of the same mistakes. Wonder why?

That would require this team showing maturity, they sure as heck haven't done much of that.

It it's true that Perea was there, this whole scenario is beyond belief. To quote Forest Gump, "stupid is as stupid does".

I have seen this in a few stories released today. One being the Indy Star article on the dismissal.

Yeah, I'm reading through the thread and already saw one post... again, seems believable... the Hanner connection just seems surreal.
