What are your expectations for the 2015-16 season?

To win with consistency at both ends of the floor while continually improving. With the talent we have we should be able to mask our interior youth of Holt and Thomas. My expectations for end result will always be the same at IU. We should field a team that can compete for titles by the end of the year.

We'll beat every weather vane team handily and many fans will over-react.
We'll beat one really good team in the pre-conference season, and many fans will over-react
We'll lose an early Big Ten game we shouldn't
We'll finish 3rd or 4th in the Big Ten, which will be mediocre
We'll lose to Wisconsin in the Big Ten tournament
We'll win a game or two in the NCAA tournament
We'll end our season very much wondering "what if?" It'll be fun, but we won't accomplish anything of note because :

1) We still have a lot of defensive holes
2) We rely too much on one ball handler who also wants and needs to score
3) We're too reliant on the 3 point shot. I know...Bryant. He's a freshman. He'll be far better in two seasons than he will be this.
4) We don't have enough players who are good off the ball. Most of our players, and this is a complaint I have about Crean, need the ball in their hands....which I think is a recipe for roster turnover and an unhappy bench.
5) We're still very easy to guard until proven otherwise.

Shouldn't be enough for Crean to keep his job, but we'll see. I expect an increased level of mediocrity. A better team with a better record, but I don't see Indiana playing for anything other than a win total.

That cannot happen. If we have a 26-8 type team regularly we will always have a chance to win the BIGTEN and a national championship.

My prediction is that the Hoosiers will build a "just good enough" record to keep Crean employed in BTown. As always, there will be peaks and valleys throughout the season - enough peaks to see the bandwagon ridership swell just before it swoons again in February and March.

Agree 100% with the second part of that, not sure on the first.  We don't win the Big Ten and we don't get past the first couple of rounds of the NCAA tournament, AND we lose a bunch of kids...which we will?  There's just nothing on his resume that says "keep him" because - as you state - it's about consistency, not any single year.   You might be right, but winning games is one thing.  Winning championships or contending on a national level is another.   I generally agree with you....

I expect at least a top 2 finish in the Big Ten and a Elite 8 at s minimum. I do think a banner (Big Ten, BTT, or NCAA) needs to happen. But that's the minimum requirement in my mind for Crean to stay on the job.

Oh and Crean must land a top 5ish level recruiting class if we end up losing almost all our top players.

I HOPE you are wrong about sweet 16. If we don't reach round of 8 this board will be unbearable. All depends on the matchups in March though.

I HOPE you are wrong about sweet 16. If we don't reach round of 8 this board will be unbearable. All depends on the matchups in March though.

 

It will still be unbearable if they reach the Elite 8, or the Final Four and after every loss along the way. The expectation is always more. The season has not yet started but the anticipatory overreaction has already began to ramp up.

Minimum expectations for the year (if these aren't met, I will be an absolute nightmare for the mods to deal with):

1.) Winning or losing by a very narrow margin in the Maui Inv.

2.) Have a winning record on the road in the B1G

3.) finish top 3 in the B1G

4.) Make BTT Final

5.) 1-2 seed in the tournament

6.) Minimum of an Elite 8 finish

#6 is the most important benchmark for me.
