FindEndNow Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 our offense can be pretty bad whenever the transition game gets taken away. Struggling to score in the half court isn't a recent issue either. gotta have that amazing 3 man weave. Plus letting 20 seconds run off the clock and running a high ball screen. People say Crean has a million page playbook.. yet there aren't any great plays. And let's not go into the inbounds plays lol. Will be interesting to see who he states and how the offense will be ran. Quote

I have nightmares about our half court offense (well and our defense too). With regards to OG, I feel like I hear this "sleeper" scenario every summer. Besides his size, this topic reminds of ron Patterson before he was kicked out of school. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm going to hold back on my excitement. Quote

At the end of the day the reason players like Vic are such a story is because it doesn't happen much. BGleas, MikeRoberts and KingPG21 3 Quote

Hoosiernsavga Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 TW was playing the 4 anyway. We will play 3 of the 4 guards with Troy and TB. I do think we will see some times with TW, CH, and TB together, but to think that with HMP or DD that we would start Troy at the 3 goes against everything we have seen out of CTC since day 1. Our 4 will be a stretch 4, not a high post or low post 4, everyone wants to think that with a couple of bigs that will change, but it won't. The sooner you come to that realization the less stress you will have during the season You are right and wrong IMO. Yes Crean loves stretch 4's but Troy is a coaches dream 3 without a doubt. Hartman is more of a stretch 4 with his ability too knock down the 3 consistently. Now I agree it will most likely be TB, Troy, RoJo, JBJ, and Yogi. I think we will see a lot of Hartman starting at the 4 also. I think this is by far our best lineup. I love OG and Holt but they both will most likely play out of position at times. Holt will spell TB unfortunately because Holt would be a stud at most other schools as a true PF. Quote

I don't understand why he's the forgotten one.The kid has skills and if we hadn't gotten Bryant he'd be the talk of the town. I'm telling you guys don't sleep on this one. He's long, athletic and loves to play around the rim.Plus he has a really nice jump shot. I see him as a Christan Watford type who can actually dunk. That's the epitome of a stretch four. Stuhoo Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Remember this post: Starting to think that OG is a major sleeper for more reasons than just his athleticism. He's a fantastic student (and is the son of an IU B School grad who is a business professor). Really smart, personable kids with lots of natural ability tend to shine. The way he writes, even on Twitter. The way the people that are interacting with him at IU are dropping hints. Marni Mooney is seldom wrong: marnonthemoonThe best and funniest part about OG is that he posed for this picture. I've never met anyone like him! The fans are going to love this kid! I hope you're right, however I can't find logic in the reasoning that it will be better because Crean is putting an emphasis on it. I wish I had that kind of faith in him. I think it's as likely he over thinks it and gets gimmicky again as it is the defense truly gets better. Changing in the middle of possessions needs to go away, and we need to either be a man team or a zone team. Using both doesn't typically work over the course of a season at the D1 level. On another note, I talked yesterday with another college coach who believes Anunoby will be a very nice get for IU in time. Stuhoo 1 Quote

It's a Crean thing; takes great pride in his ability to out-think the opposition. Sometimes it works grandly (Oladipo, Holt, Yogi shutting down Stauskus). Sometimes, it lays a big steaming pile of Jeremiah April or a mid-possession man to zone change layup. Old Friend 1 Quote
recker222000 Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 Am I the only one who gets this overwhelming feeling that O.G. Anonuby is going to be the steal of this years recruiting class? Old Friend Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Call me crazy but by the end of the year I think he is the first or second guy off the bench. Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk This is where I think we have to be careful and the point where expectations become greater than a kid can produce. I've seen predictions like this with a couple dozen kids who never really worked out. Ferrell, Williams, Blackmon, Zeisloft, Johnson, Holt, Hartman, and Bryant (8 players at least) are all ahead of him right now; Morgan comes in as more highly touted, and Beilefelt will be a senior. You might be right, but this thread alone has already pumped him up to a status I'm not sure he can achieve. I'd rather let kids be what they are and not inflate expectations of a 3-star kid regardless of how much we think we'll like him. Crimson and Cream, Dalton26, thebigweave and 2 others 5 Quote
