No idea which way this is going to go, but I'm pretty sure there was a press conference when Zeller and Watford announced they were coming back for the 12-13 season. It wasn't at a steakhouse in Indy, it was on campus, but it was still a press conference where they took questions from the media, etc.

Watford graduated

Pretty sad way of looking at it Chad and as a player. If I don't get any better, and our team that should be damn good loses a 1/16, 2/15, 3/14 game, It'll be the same so I might as well go?

So 4 pages of responses and I have yet to see this point brought up:

A fringe second-round pick holding a press conference seems dumb and unnecessary at first glance, but I think this is all about PR and marketing himself at this point for the 2016 NBA draft, which I can't fault him for at all.  His play on the court, such as leading us to a Final 4, is going to do more talking than anything that could be said at a press conference, but his "campaign" to get drafted higher kicks off with this press conference at Ruth's Chris.

More attention will naturally be drawn to him at the PC (albeit maybe minimally), but it does make sense for him to do this from a strictly PR standpoint.  It's all about getting your name out there even more.

So don't be so quick to rip him for something that could end up helping him.

My thoughts exactly. There's clearly something about this situation none of us know, and I think this is it. Like you said, why else would a projected 2nd rounder hold such a big event for his declaration?

Also, if he was going, I'm almost certain Crean would either know or have a strong sense of it and would (hopefully) be recruiting a solid '15 pg more so than he is now.

I agree. Kid needs to start the hype and then go out and prove it at IU. Everyone will remember he's the second round fringe pick that held an announcement party. They'll watch, probably hoping to see him fail, and then, when he leads this team on a run in the tourney, he'll be hyped up. If he doesn't take us on a run, he's still a damn good, but undersized fringe second round pick.

This is my hope.

I agree.  I don't like it, but I agree.  Come on back Yogi, lead a top 10 team

RT@DocLibby: Yogi has NOT made a decision. He is still researching so don't jump to conclusions! Just a deadline he gave his family.

Yep. A deadline that happens to be the evening before the NBA filing deadline.
