In regards to Glass himself, he's done a lot of positives for IU's athletic programs. Baseball is self-explanatory. Soccer won a NC. Though the results have yet to matriculate, he has made more of a commitment to IU's football program than any AD in a long time. The financial problems IU's AD had been facing when he took over are resolved as well. However, IU is basketball first, and whoever is AD needs to bring results there above all else. I would like to see Glass stay (I think he's learned his lesson from the Crean buyout), and he is very personable, which is an underrated attribute when handling coach egos. The way I see it, if he handles this Crean situation the way it should be handled in the next few weeks, he can stay, but if can't get rid of Crean then he needs to be replaced with someone who will.

glass is amazing at his profession. one of the country's most revered athletic directors. the athletics dept is in tremendously better shape now than when he took over in 2009. I know the student-athletes as well as the staff and students involved with the dept love him. his body of work is already remarkable, but if he can hire someone who transforms iubb into a consistent contender, he'll become legendary. with his track record of hiring top-notch coaches, I'm optimistic.

The athletic director's performance at IU is about 90% judged on the bball program

Sorry but this is just fan speak. Basketball is lucky if the total value is $22-25 million. Revenue from football is more than that. Boosters at IU pay for basketball and medical donations. Football revenue vs basketball revenue is pretty equal at IU minus donations to the program. Even if you add in donations it is nowhere near the 90% you portray it to be. Big part of his job? Yes, but he has a lot more on his plate than just the basketball program. He has done well overall on his job.

You are right, and that's what I meant. I should have put that in my post. That 90% of how he is judged BY FANS is based on bball

Does it matter how fans perceive him? If we went by that standard, we would only have 2 sports (football being the other). Fans should check out all the awesome sports, both club and NCAA. That's a huge point of pride for me! Check out Purdue's limited offering- it's embarrassing. Not saying that basketball isn't #1, but Glass has his eyes on a lot of sports :)

Are you saying your opinion doesn't matter?

Not at all.   But, if the fans that are writing him off based on basketball alone, they need to be more informed.  But, if you were on the Board at IU, and saw that a small but educated group of fans disapproves of your AD, who has done a great job all around, based on 1 sport, would you be ready to remove him?
