Welcome to the Mike Davis era

Recommended Posts

This is the Mike Davis era all over again. Play down to our competition, lose some games that we shouldn't lose, beat some ranked teams at home, finish on the bubble and lose in the tourney.

This is what we are at this point and for the foreseeable future. I have seen intramural teams with more size than this team has. It is year 7, and we are playing Colin Hartman at center. I get that Hanner got hurt, but it's Creans responsibility to have a backup in place.

I wish I could be happy about the win tonight, but I just can't knowing where this program is.

Plus/Minus recap:

With Ryan Burton, +12
Without Ryan Burton, -9

Haha that's why I put *(and produces)*. Crean just surprises the heck out of me every week. My post was to point out that 1. The fan base is splintered like Mike Davis is coaching again. And 2. Crean is the most surprising coach in the NCAA with his substitutions.

The similarities are definitely there.

I honestly believe a below average coach could beat teams at Assembly Hall. Davis used to do it constantly and so has Crean.

We consistently play down to our competition, even at home. This Penn St team is absolutely terrible, and they were .2 seconds from sending it to overtime.

One last thing, we have got to be the worst inbounding team in the country. It is a problem every single game. It's very frustrating to watch a team come out of a timeout, only to call another timeout because they can't throw the ball in.

I wanted to find a reason to lash out against you...

but...

in this post...

I can't.

This again?

Not time for it yet---we are 1st place in the Big Ten and 13-4.

All goals are in reach----we had less than 24 hours to prepare without Perea.

I'll give the team a pass because we got the win-----I'm already thinking about the Illini.

This is fair, and you are completely correct. I hope we can continue the winning ways.

We have played poorly in 3 of 4 big ten games, but we got 2 wins at home. We played a very good game @ Nebraska but they aren't really that good this year.

My point of this thread was that this is exactly how the last few years of the Davis era played out. There were always excuses as to why we weren't better, it always reasons for why it will be better next year. In all reality, this squad is at best a 8 or 9 seed with no chance of making a run in the tourney. We also have the same team coming back next year with the same flaws.

Like I said earlier, glad for the win. But a 3 point win against the worst team in the big ten at home isn't anything to write home about.

I got it for you.

Both are male.

Both coached basketball at Indiana University.

Both wear ties.

Both have hair.

Both were born in the 1960s.

Both were assistants south of the Mason Dixon line.

Both played the same number of years in the NBA.

Both had at least 115 wins at Indiana.

Both live in the shadow of RBK.

Both have kids.

Both have coached in Assembly Hall.
Both are afraid of dragon flies.

Who isn't?
