    Post Game IU vs. Northwestern

I was at the game last night as well, wanted to wait to post until I calmed down a bit.  Let me just say this, watching Crean coach a game in person is so much worse than watching it on TV.  This is the first game I have seen since the Zeller/Oladipo squad, so man was I in for a treat.     This was like Tom Crean's Opus to me.  If I had to show a game to one person to describe everything I love/hate about him as a coach, I would just pop in the film from this game.  Everyone in the building knew that the teams couldn't keep up the shooting from the 1st half, so the adjustments needed to be made for that.  Let's just say that's where we were lacking.   Most things have been covered here, but I did want to say this.  I had to just laugh at the start of the 2nd half when Crean put in Robinson as the first sub off the bench.  I mean Zeislofts hair was basically on fire, and the first sub we bring in is a 2 guard that can not shoot the ball, only to have him guard the biggest guy on the floor.   There were also times in that 2nd half that I'm not sure any of our guys knew what defense we were playing.  I think on a few possessions when they started to make their run, we were just playing 1 guy in the lane and leaving the others to scramble around the perimeter to guard the shooters, this obviously didn't work and they got 3 or 4 wide open looks in a row.     I know this has been kind of a rambling post, but at least we saved all those timeouts so we could draw up that 7 point play at the end.

    Recruiting Momentum

So many excuses for why he missed on guys. Fact is we don't have a guy over 6'8" that can produce at a level above the hyper. This is on crean, the future looks absolutely horrible for the squad unless you want a middle of the pack B10 team

    Purdue Post Game Thread

Pretty terrible game plan on both ends.  No one played well besides Yogi.  Stan played ok, but we know about what he can do at this point.     Why we kept driving the ball in to the 7 footers is beyond me?  There is no explanation for that.  Painters gameplan was pretty simple, put the big guys manned up against Troy and let them camp out in the paint because Troy can't shoot, and then get up in all the guards to force them to drive.  I think Crean should have taken Troy out when he saw this so that we could have 5 shooters on the floor and get Hammonds out of the paint, but we didn't try this until late in the game.  We are already small so we should have tried to force Hammonds to get out and guard someone who can shoot the ball instead of letting him sit in there and swat shots.   The defense was absolutely horrible again, looked like a lay up line out there.  This isn't even about the post guys, because everyone knew they had the advantage there, this is about our guards getting absolutely embarrassed and allowing guys to drive right past them any time they wanted.  Lay ups are easy when you know the other team doesn't have any rim protection.     Pretty disappointing effort tonight by everyone from the coaches on down.  I did find it funny that Crean finally put on the press after the under 4 timeout when the game was basically over and he was running and jumping up and down on the sidelines.  Could have tried that a little sooner when the game wasn't so far out of reach.

Welcome to the Mike Davis era

This is fair, and you are completely correct. I hope we can continue the winning ways. We have played poorly in 3 of 4 big ten games, but we got 2 wins at home. We played a very good game @ Nebraska but they aren't really that good this year. My point of this thread was that this is exactly how the last few years of the Davis era played out. There were always excuses as to why we weren't better, it always reasons for why it will be better next year. In all reality, this squad is at best a 8 or 9 seed with no chance of making a run in the tourney. We also have the same team coming back next year with the same flaws. Like I said earlier, glad for the win. But a 3 point win against the worst team in the big ten at home isn't anything to write home about.

Welcome to the Mike Davis era

The similarities are definitely there. I honestly believe a below average coach could beat teams at Assembly Hall. Davis used to do it constantly and so has Crean. We consistently play down to our competition, even at home. This Penn St team is absolutely terrible, and they were .2 seconds from sending it to overtime. One last thing, we have got to be the worst inbounding team in the country. It is a problem every single game. It's very frustrating to watch a team come out of a timeout, only to call another timeout because they can't throw the ball in.
  7. This is the Mike Davis era all over again. Play down to our competition, lose some games that we shouldn't lose, beat some ranked teams at home, finish on the bubble and lose in the tourney. This is what we are at this point and for the foreseeable future. I have seen intramural teams with more size than this team has. It is year 7, and we are playing Colin Hartman at center. I get that Hanner got hurt, but it's Creans responsibility to have a backup in place. I wish I could be happy about the win tonight, but I just can't knowing where this program is.

    Fitness Thread

Been crossfitting pretty consistently for about the past month and a half.  7am bright and early.  Set new PRs on back squat, dead lift, and OH press.     I weigh 162-165 lb.   Back squat = 315 Dead Lift = 350  OH Press = 150   Pretty stoked.

    Camping in Wisconsin

I live in Chicago and I am looking to get out of the city for the weekend.  I would like to make a camping trip to Wisconsin but I am not very familiar with any campgrounds up there, I usually go to Indiana and do my camping since I have family and friends there.   Any suggestions on where to go?  I'd like to hike and fish for sure.  If there are mountain bike trails that would definitely be a huge plus.

    Indiana Pacers 2.0

There has to be a trade in the works here to dump some salary, or maybe make some major changes.     My off the wall guess is trying to trade Hibbert and upgrade at point guard.  Looks like they won't have the $$ to resign Lance, which sucks, but its a huge gamble at this point on how he would handle getting paid.   There has to be a big trade in the works with all these moves today, gonna be an interesting few days for sure.

I've been doing crossfit for about the last 10 months now, never felt better.  I'm 29 and feel like I did when I played sports in high school.     I know crossfit gets a lot of bad press on the internet and what not, but I love it, and couldn't be happier with the results.  It's a great community, and it is a hard core workout.  Sucks while you are going through it, but it feels amazing when you finish and can see improvements in the workouts.
