Walking Boot of Doom

IU vs. MSU Postgame

WOW! Boys against men.  This year's Hoosier team is like a "box of chocolates"

The team, Blackmon in particular, reminded of the scene in Hoosiers when Hickory walked inside Hinkle Field House for the first time!

Izzo didn't have to unleash Dawson from the dog house too early but when he did it was like Shaq was on the court against the freshmen team!

That was one of the ugliest basketball games I have seen in years

Simply not prepared mentally though Crean said in the games preview game comments how important it would be tonight.

Is it the coach, the team combination of the two?

I know a coach can only do so much. Maybe tonight is just one of those games where it snow balled and there was nothing we could do to turn the tide. That happens. After all, a coach shouldn't be judged by one game.

However, I'm waaaaaay over all of this "youth" and "he can't make the shots for them" stuff. Come on, folks. Of course there's elements that are out of his control. On the flip side, there's TONS of things that he can control.

- He's hand picked his players.
- He selected his staff.
- He picks the style of play and the system.
- He decides how to develop the players, etc.
- He decides nearly every detail in the program...and yes...he is a micro manager.

I'm not saying fire him midseason, but what happens on his watch is his responsibility...whether it's on or off the court. That's why being the coach here is a huge responsibility. IU is an elite program (well, I hope we still are), and settling for mediocrity will have long-term damaging effects on the program.

I picked us to win this one by 10... Man was I wrong...but I think it's high time we start to expect some consistency in our program.
