Njit upsets #17 michigan

Just waiting for our posters to start clamoring for UM to fire Belein!

That of course is silly---just one game like EWU was just one game.

A lot of parity in college BBall when the higher ranked team doesn't bring intensity.

Long season ahead---but UM doesn't look any better than IU right now to me.

You know that simply isn't true that people were calling for Crean's head because of one game.

NJIT has the distinction of three NCAA records

Defeats in a Winless Season (29) 2009-2010

Consecutive Defeats in a Season (29) 2009-2010

Consecutive Defeats (51)  2008-2009 & 2009 - 2010

looks like all of that came to an end in 2010...I wonder what happened?

Why would anyone do that? Beilein has been great for them. A Big Ten title last year after losing Trey Burke, an Elite Eight and a national runner-up the last two years. He also hasn't done anything stupid to embarrass their program or had players running amok with drugs and alcohol. I think we all knew they would struggle this year and were only ranked because of reputation.

Very shocking loss for michigan, how do you feel this changes expectations for there team if any, and does it affect us in any way besides making the eastern washinton loss look better?

Why would you think this makes things look any different for the IU vs. EWU game? Different games and different teams. I want IU to beat EWU regardless of how any other team performs.

The most interesting part of the discussion is about Michigan as a team this year. I would personally take Belein in a heartbeat. But, I don't think that Michigan is that good. They will be able to space the floor fairly well with four guards who are threats, but with a good game plan I think that you can force Walton to try to beat you on his own and if you have one superior on the ball defender Michigan would be beaten. I think if you control the "rails" as they say and make the game in to Walton having to create everything and not help off the shooters then you have a really good chance of controlling the game.

This actually tends to be the biggest adjustment Crean makes, not helping off of shooters and not helping off of weak side bigs on the dribble drive. We will probably see it against Michigan again this year.

They don't have a real post player and are limited on slashers and people who can create their own shots.

That being said, they remind me a lot of IU with maybe less depth and athleticism. Perhaps Belein makes up for that a little bit.
