IU vs Pitt Official Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Of equal importance, my chili turned out awesome, and Leviathan is an impressive beer.

From Harpoon? That is a good beer.

I am all Rouge Dead Guy or Ninkasi Total Domination lately, because that's what they sell at Costco so it's best for casual drinking.

Just eggs, bacon, and toast for dinner though. The wife did a happy hour.

The only head scratcher was Burton in the first half. There is no reason to do anything but rotate holt and perea. Nothing

Great post earlier bleedh.

I think the answer to the Burton minutes is that Hanner had two early fouls and Emmitt had to run about 12 straight minutes. Emmitt needed a few minute blow.

Didn't mind Burton in the game.  He seems to understand the game and plays fairly well defensively and goes for the rebound.  He may very well be needed to buy a couple minutes here and there for the few bigs IU has.  If Devin Davis was still in the mix, Burton would not see the floor except in mop up minutes.  He is a juinor with two years of college ball experience at Bellarmine, a pretty good DII program,

He provides some needed inside muscle and bullied one of the Pitt players positioning for a rebound. Granted he got called for a foul, but he's got 5 to give.

Ninkasi? Hmmmmmmm, new one to me, now I'm on a mission! I forget how "big" Leviathan is and about midway through my 3rd, remember how high the alcohol is :)

2 big differences in this game and more of it could = more success.
1. RJ is a true pass first point Creans never had at IU. Reduce Yogi's role and you reduce turnovers, bad shots, and incoinsistent play. Sorry, Yogis just not the star if we want to win. Does anyone need more proof?
2. More time = more development for Holt. Soft hands in transition and rebounding. He's smart under the basket. I'm not sure how Crean could make the statement regarding the game being too fast for him. Just more coach speak. Troy may be better off the bench he's such a spaz so Holt conceivably could start with Hanner.
There it is in a nutshell folks. Watching Louisville now; we still have a mountain to climb but playing better ball with a win is a step in the right direction.

obligatory negative comment for the night...

after seeing tonight's effort, it really pisses me off even more that we had to witness that loss to Eastern Whoever....

they took their pic around the IU logo and blasted it all over twitter, and it should have never happened...

Holt could have helped, and the team effort was no where near what it was tonight...

rant over...

back to good feelings and Kate Upton images...

Definitely agree regarding RoJo. I have a hard time taking Yogi out in the crunch though; he made a lot of smart plays in the last few minutes and we crucial to breaking the press.

I still think it's too risky to play our two best 5s, HMP and Holt, on the floor at the same time. HMP is foul to prone and Holt is young. I think it could be appropriate against a team like UL, as long as they can avoid fouling.

I hope Crean got that photo of EWU on the logo and gave every IU player their own copy.

Oh, and Hanner was better today too.

I figured we'd win this one but I'm glad we did!

Louisville, boy IDK. They are so darn good. A loss to them on a neutral court won't hurt us.

We just need to get Georgetown and Butler.

An 11-2 non-con record would exceed my and national expectations.

It's fairly local. I mean, it's widely distributed in the Northwest but I doubt they make it too far out of the region. Delicious IPA though, great hopbody, good finish. It's a pretty perfect casual drinking beer And only 6.7% so you can drink it all game and not be wasted. It reminds me of Bell's Two Hearted but might not be quite as good. But, whatever, it's a real good beer and the only 24 pack I can get at Costco. Plus, $27 for the 24 pack! $10 for a 6er in the store so it's hard to turn it down.

Who were those guys wearing our colors? A team that came out with swagger, a team that appeared well-coached and very disciplined. A team that if it had played as it did tonight would have blown Eastern Washington out of Assembly Hall.

Holt is definitely ready for prime time and the bulk of the big-man minutes. Hanner makes a good secondary guy, and he made some impressive plays too. Hartman is potentially the best off-the-bench guy we've had since Tom Abernethy. I see potential success for this team, probably mostly at home, though.

If they can bring this intensity to every game, this will be a fun team to watch, and if they do bring it, hats off to Crean for getting a young team to raise its game when the competition gets tougher.

At this rate I really don't see Stan coming back next year, I hope I'm wrong because I like his style of play (when he is not being selfish)

Which is when?

Which is when?

The SMU game. He came in didn't settle for running the weave and tossing it off to the next guy. He attacked the basket dished out and made plays. And then Yogi and Blackmon started doing it too. Really sparked the team in the first half. When he is doing that and playing solid defense (which is most of the time) he is a good guard for us to have. It's a real change of pace and I like that.
