IU vs Pitt Official Post Game Thread

Recommended Posts

Just got back from a high school game and watched the replay----of course I also followed it on gametracker.

Nice effort by the entire team---Stan being the one exception who had a tough night.

Coach had IU well prepared to play---those extra practices we have been hearing about paid off big time.

Holt finally got a chance to showcase his game---and he delivered.

The insiders have been telling us that he was doing well in practice---we finally saw it in the game.

Hope Crean continues to give him major minutes.

Holt also seems to motivate Hanner to play harder----they can develop into a very solid 1-2 punch inside!

Defense was better---but still a long way to go.

At least the intensity was there which gives me hope we will continue to see improvement.

And RoJo---are you kidding me?  He had a great floor game tonight.  Ran the club well while Yogi was in foul trouble.

Saw definite improvement----and great to get a win when Yogi and Blackmon aren't huge factors.

We have real depth!

I've seen the, "Yogi wasn't a factor" a few times tonight. Not attacking you Rebel, but I think he was very much a factor as a facilitator. Yogi doesn't have to lead the team in scoring, he just needs to lead the team.

Agreed, he had a real chance as the lead began to dwindle in the final minutes.  However, he continued to try to beat the press by himself, he took shots and attacked when he should have backed off a bit, he didn't keep the other players in check.  I want to see Yogi grow as a leader and when the opponent is making a run he calms the team down to get a big bucket or communicates on D to get a big stop.  He definitely has the ability.

Agree---I am a big Yogi fan.

I was referring to all his bench time---he was not a factor during the times he was not in the game  for large stetches at a time due to foul trouble and rest.

It's fairly local. I mean, it's widely distributed in the Northwest but I doubt they make it too far out of the region. Delicious IPA though, great hopbody, good finish. It's a pretty perfect casual drinking beer And only 6.7% so you can drink it all game and not be wasted. It reminds me of Bell's Two Hearted but might not be quite as good. But, whatever, it's 4a real good beer and the only 24 pack I can get at Costco. Plus, $27 for the 24 pack! $10 for a 6er in the store so it's hard to turn it down.

Stan too high to play.

HOOSIERS

I really hate to dog a kid but if he had screwed up just once, it'd be different. But he done it twice within like 3 months? Maybe sooner? If I were CTC, I'd make this kid work his ass off then some to get back into the rotation. And if he don't like it well, THERES THE DOOR!

You love dogging kids!

Gracious...I just saw we gave up 25 offensive rebounds. How they didn't capitalize on that is beyond me. Glad to get the W.

By missing lots of bunnies.

In the second half Pitt looked like a team well traveled (Hawaii trip). IU was much more active the first 12 mins second half. Seemed like Pitt's press picked them up out of their sleepiness.

Have to say that I've actually been a fan of Hartmans game/role when he has played this season. Seems to me the kid plays hard and seems to be giving all he's got! Never can fault a kid that's playing hard. Hope to see improvements from him. Anyone else agree?

I agree with you.

He has been the biggest surprise for me because to be honest I was counting him out to start the year due to his injury.

I think he will continue to get more athletic as he completes the healing and conditioning process and he may have some more things to show us before his time at IU is all said and done!

He has become one of my favorites.

Serious question.. What are the chances that Hartman enters the starting lineup at some point this season? I personally like his fire off the bench.

Slim. I think his game is best suited for coming off the bench. He can come in and play 5-7 minutes at a time and play really hard. It provides energy and some shooting off the bench.

I'm very glad Pitt threw that press at us. It caught us off guard and gave them some higher pressure situation with trying to maintain the lead and the intensity cranked up.

Perfect with Louisville looming

Yep Hope Coach is working their tails off on passing thru that press

.There's no one in basketball who is as relentless with it as Pitino.

Holy smokes can Louisville guard! I think our quickness can be a definite threat, but it's going to be tough. Outside of Russell, OSU's guards were too slow with the ball last night against UL. Slow ball reversal, bad shots. Hopefully we can do better. We'll see.
