Devin Davis Updates

Recommended Posts

Everyone here, including myself, want nothing but a full recovery from young Mr. Davis. That being said, can it not at least not be acknowleged that he brought this upon himself? This wasn't an injury he sustained on the court or in practice. He made a stupid, selfish mistake that only hurts himself, but also his team and hoosier nation. He seems like a good kid and I hope he's learn something from all of this but to be fair, if this had happened at UK I doubt anyone would be holding back any punches.

You're probably right, but it wasn't a UK player. It was one of our guys. He made a horrible decision that very easily could've cost him his life. Not the first thing I'd make a joke about.

A terrible thing happened to someone, regardless of what team he plays for. Sure we feel more for Devin than if it were to be a UK player but I truly doubt people would be throwing punches at someone who almost lost their life in a freak accident. Classless imo

The sensitivity to noise and lights is very common with traumatic brain injuries.  Onset of headaches can happen quite rapidly with very little stimulation.  Just need to be careful and go slow.  No reason to hurry him back into Assembly Hall tomorrow but would like to see him rejoin the bench later in the year.

I don't want to derail the thread any further and I can see that my opinion is very unpopular so this will be my final post on the matter.

My joke was made in regards to DD leaving the rehabilitation facility. All of his progress reports have been positive and I haven't heard anything that would indicate that he would make anything less than a full recovery.

It seems undisputed that DD was at fault for the incident, as the police report indicates. Excuse me for not putting him on a petastle for drunkenly running into the road in the middle of the night the evening before an official scrimmage in front of the fans. He clearly made a huge mistake that damaged the reputation of the university and his team. When all of this came out nearly everyone was angry with Troy, Stan, and Holt. Now that we know DD is going to be okay I don't feel bad poking some fun at his mistakes. Sorry I'm non sorry if that makes me classless.

He looks great. Sad look on his face however, but no one can control the past. Obviously he wants to play with his team. But, things happen and as humans we do our best to recover and move forward. This could really be a good focus point, persay, for the team. Make the tournament for Devin. Win the next big game for our big man #15. He will be there every step of the way. A true hoosier. Blessed, to say the least.

DD is a warrior---hope he continues to get better---fast!

I am starting to let myself believe there is a chance we get him back later this season or at least next.

Depending upon just how severe his head injury is/was, he may never be able to play at a high level again.   That's not wishing ill will on him, but facing the realities of what he's facing.  I would rather see him sit out the entire season and redshirt and not feel any pressure to get back on the court too quickly.  I want him to be completely healthy and fully recovered and know that the next time he comes onto the floor in candy stripes he came to play.
