MartintheMopMan Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I guess we just have to hope that he's a good kid and won't be swayed by the evils of KY. Plus, he wouldn't even start there. Quote

Everyone reads too much in to relatively minor actions of 17-year-old kids. Candystriped, Stuhoo, rebelhoosier848891 and 2 others 5 Quote
IU Bud Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Leaf wasn't a surprise to me. Hard to bring a kid that far east even with IU ties. Hoping Crean can add Bryant along with Lyle. We are already over-signed by 2. We would need 4 to leave or give up a scholarship to add Bryant and Lyle. Let's pretend 1 player goes to the NBA. What 3 wouldn't be coming back? Priller, April, Zeisloft, Hoetzel, Hartman? Hartman should be back. Zeisloft should come back. Hoetzel has a chance to be a good player. So, Priller, April, and who else would have to leave? Quote

I'm genuinely confused who you think is going to be our next level center without him or someone like him? April? Priller? Hanner? In my opinion, the surest thing Crean can do to doom his future here is not bring in a really strong center in 2015. MikeRoberts, 323SGrant and ccgeneral 3 Quote

Quite honestly, with our guard set, I would abandon all other recruiting for next year except for elite bigs. I'm not the coach and probably lack some inside perspective but to me, it's elite big or run with what you got Crean. Quote
Walking Boot of Doom Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Whatttttttttt I'm truly don't want to lose more of these guys than we already will. This team seems to have great chemistry, and I want to see another team of 4 year players like the 2012-2013 team. I'm tired of one-and-done's. I understand Bryant could be great for us, but I want to see Holt and April developed. Quote

MartintheMopMan Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 You make it sound like its Crean's choice whether a player chooses to play here or not. Not at all. I would never hold him accountable for the actions of any one player. What I would hold him accountable for is two years of recruiting in a row where he doesn't address our needs. All resources available should be poured toward securing a near-court-ready big for the 2015 class. The decisions of individual recruits doesn't fall on the coach, but the direction of recruiting classes does. There is a lot of scholarship room talk in this thread for example. If Bryant is concerned about scholarship room then mistakes were made in recruiting already. I love OG and Juwon and can't wait for them to wear the candy stripes, but our true need is for a center. cthomas Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 I wouldn't be surprised if other coaches recruiting against IU point out that we have a guard oriented offense that really doesn't feature bigs. It might explain why we seem to have problems closing the deal with elite big men lately. Quote

Not that I don't like the roster but it's pretty obvious, even against D2 talent/height that rebounding is going to be a HUGE issue for us this year! Yeah yeah I know Troy is coming back but, he can't solve that all by himself. Come on Quote
