TXHoosierDaddy Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 Observations so far regarding conferences Pac-12: Total joke. They shouldn't get more than 2 teams in the tourney (AZ, AZ St). Everyone else is laughable. Biggest disappointment: Oregon or UCLA (with Alford). UCLA is 3-0 in conference since firing Alford so is one to watch. Big 12: Deepest conference from top to bottom. I don't think there is an easy win anywhere. Biggest surprise: Texas Tech or OU. The coach at Tech, Beard, is the real deal. Biggest disappointment: W Virginia or UT. Don't think Huggy will be in the tourney this year. ACC: Maybe not as good top to bottom as we are accustomed to but the top is still really good with Virginia and Duke looking like Final 4 teams. Biggest surprise: Va Tech. Biggest disappointment: Clemson Big 10: Best we have been from top to bottom as a conference in quite some time. Teams like Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota are very competitive. Things still run through Michigan and Mich St. for the Big 10 crown. IU can finish as high as third and as low as eight or nine if things really went south. SEC: Best this conference has been in a long time too. Tenn looks like the real deal. Funny thing is this looks like one of the weaker UK teams in quite some time. Biggest surprise: Ole Miss. Biggest disappointment: Florida or Vandy (I know they lost Garland). They NET rankings take into account NET efficiency. The more efficient you are offensively and defensively the better your NET ranking can be. There is no scoring margin cap for this so running up the score and playing efficient as possible for the entire game seems to benefit and coaches are taking advantage of it. Zags were up 40 on Santa Clara the other night and still had his starters in the game. NCAA and committee will definitely have to take a look in the off-season and make some changes Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app Quote

It’s actually the weakest it’s been in a few years and holds quite a few mediocre to bad teams after Kansas and Texas Tech. It looks like a 5 bid conference. The Big Ten has a much stronger argument at being the best from top to bottom. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app I'm not sure Okie State and W. Virginia would classify as bad teams and they are clearly the weakest in the conference. I'd probably pick them over Illinois, Penn St. or Rutgers looking at schedules and results but that's just me. Iowa St. and K State both had lots of injuries like we have had and are just now getting back to full strength. Both have the talent to make a run at the Big 12. TCU is also missing one of their top players and is still in Top 25 along with with Tech, KU (as always), Iowa St, Oklahoma. Quote
KingPG21 Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 So it is definitely early but Wichita State has been real bad so far in their first year in the AAC. I never got the love for Marshall. You have to give him some time to recruit to the talent level of that conference, but coaching is usually good enough to overcome that type of stuff. Lol, Shaka. Another coach who should of just stayed at the mid-major level. jk34 1 Quote
