I know most teams do it but I hate fouling at the end.  If your winning don’t extend the game.  So many things can happen.

I’m happy Rutgers lost.  Not that I dislike them but they are a sleeper in the BIG if they can steal a few road wins.  Should have had that one.

They're not as terrible when they officiate other conferences or noncon games. What happens between those games and Big 1.o games?

Probably because we don't care or pay attention nearly as much when it's a non-con/non-IU game.

I've refereed enough to know that refs don't see team names or conference standings; they see bodies moving and bumping and revert to what they've been trained to notice. Some refs have very good habits, so they are in position to see more and thereby they tend to screw up less.

I miss the good ole' days of Hightower, Burr, etc.  They would feel out the game, work with the players/coaches, and let the game unfold.  They wouldn't dictate the game (except for Valentine).

The NCAA should be in charge of the refs and not the conferences.  They need to make them full time employees and not sub contractors who tried to get as many games as they can.  There are some refs you will see about every day doing a game and it just to much on them.  They run as much as the players and the players don't play as many games.

While they might not 'see team names or conference standings', I wouldn't say that the calls they make aren't influenced at all by the crowd.

Here was a study of games played under no (or very little) attended games in college basketball to games played in the previous non-covid year.  With fans, home teams won 63% of the time by an average margin of 4.3 points.  Without fans, they won 59% of the time by an average margin of 3.1 points..

Can't agree more. It would also help with the consistency from conference to conference. Be nice for all games to be officiated the same way.

It's D3 but a team just won a game by taking only 3 pointers. Had 111 shots in the game, 0 of them inside the line. Crazy

Yea that Grinnell for ya. They had the kid who scored 138 points in a game.... Interestingly enough, that kid has nothing to do with basketball anymore. Just lives his normal life in Wisconsin I believe.
