Feel like every time I turn around they’re hosting some huge sporting events, concerts, conventions, etc. Don’t recall that being the case while I was around 10-15 years ago. Does anyone know if something policy related is driving that or more based on city layout and convenient proximity to venues or something? Just curious. I’d love to visit soon, seems like there’s usually something new/cool going on. Indy is a logistical paradise for major sporting events, especially after downtown got cleaned up. That may have all happened in the gap from you being there last. You can park your car downtown and never need it (or an Uber, etc.) again for as long as you're there. You can also be downtown and barely have to walk outside between skyways/tunnels between buildings, etc. It isn't the best food-wise from a quality standpoint, but the quantity of bars and restaurants is there to hold events like this, CFP, NBA All-Star, etc. Not to mention Lucas Oil and Gainbridge are elite venues, and then add in the top notch convention center. From a policy perspective I have no idea, but Indy is so so good at actually holding these events. ALASKA HOOSIER, Home Jersey, Class of '66 Old Fart and 1 other 2 2 Quote

The city d cided back in the mid 80's to really put effort in making Indy a huge sports city and put a host committee together that is better than anyone. Home Jersey, J34 and ALASKA HOOSIER 3 Quote

So if you have a bad year? Fired/demoted. Also, they should be open to all manner of criticism and scrutiny. Wanna be a pro-athelete? Then you get treated like a pro athlete. Unionization is a bridge too far for me though. Once they demand double pay to play on holidays or strike to get a bigger share of the Adidas contract, I'll focus my time & attention elsewhere. There are already pro sports I mostly ignore. J34 1 Quote

Once they demand double pay to play on holidays or strike to get a bigger share of the Adidas contract, I'll focus my time & attention elsewhere. - It's always confusing to me how the players getting paid detracts from someone's ability to enjoy the watching them play. Unionization would likely also lead to a collective bargaining agreement which might limit how much schools can directly pay the players, might limit NIL without actual work, and might restrict the currently unrestricted free transfers. I didn't actually state them getting paid was the issue, although I don't like that either. I love college basketball. I assume you do to. So why would you want it fundamentally changed in every way? On this trajectory NCAA basketball will be completely unrecognizable in a few years. Are you cool with that? Big picture, why should state academic institutions provide professional sports entertainment? Is that furthering their mission & purpose? We can all agree NBA players are more skilled and athletically superior to college players, right? So why not just watch the NBA for pro basketball? If a kid wants to play pro basketball? Great, then do it, but amatuer sports can still exist. Changes need to be made to protect college sports, not bastardize them into a minor league caricature of a once great sport. The NCAA is stupid and corrupt, so fix it, don't change college basketball into the CBA. J34, cthomas, Dave from Dayton and 3 others 5 1 Quote

While there might be NCAA legislation to try and control it, there is no way of guaranteeing that it would hold up in court. Home Jersey 1 Quote

As long as the laws aren’t being broken, best get on board and use them to your advantage. Quote
