How in the world did Archie Miller win so many games at Dayton?

A better question is how did Oliver Purnell? He’s the one that turned them around. Gregory and Archie more or less kept that going.

None of those guys have done anything outside of Dayton. But Purnell did most of the heavy lifting there.

I see archie is about to lose his sixth in a row and drop to 5-7. He is just a really bad coach.

I have a niece that enrolled at RI so a week ago, out of curiosity,  I wasted 15 minutes reading their forum. It was deja vu all over again.

“wait until he gets his guys in”, “the Packline is great but takes a few years to incorporate”, “not sure why they didn’t show up tonight but Arch will turn that around” “he is a no-nonsense guy”, “must know what he is doing, look at Dayton” etc etc.

They also have some questions but no one asked the most important question which is….”how much is the buyout”

Yep, Knecht, Love, Spencer. 1 of Those 4 would have had a huge on this team. Something was going on with Reeves. Love was interesting. Seems we backed off. Knecht said no thanks. Spencer was just high on my wish list.

Apparently, Mick Cronin's little rant the other night about NIL was in reference to getting outbid by UConn for Spencer.

I'm gonna go ahead and predict (maybe not boldly) that Kenny Payne gets let go about 5pm tomorrow

They don’t play again until 1/3…I kinda assume they wait until after Christmas for his sake and the players’, letting them enjoy the break. You’d still have about a week of practice with the interim if you did that.

There was some reporting over the weekend that he and another candidate not currently on staff had been asked to consider it. I believe WDRB or the athletic had it

Crean was up and down at IU.
Archie was just down.
Archie is 14-29 at Rhode island. Once they fire him in a few years I would guess his career is over unless he wants to coach at like north Alabama. All the so called experts claimed he was a home run hire. He is more like a triple play. Just awful.

Why would they fire him everytime iu hires a coach I am told you have to give them four years minimum to get their guys in here. It is only his second year. What happened to you have to give a new coach time?

Love would have been a great one. Can defend but most importantly is a better playmaker than anyone we have right now. That's the one I really wanted. But I guess maybe we don't get Mgbako.

Trilly tweeted a source told him Louisville is swimming in debt.  On the hook for multiple buyouts and money spent on facility upgrades

Well then, as an actuarial exercise Payne's buyout is even more of a no-brainer.

Article on the Payne situation with thoughts from the AD.
Interesting tidbit, at least to me: A quote supportive of Payne from Skyy Clark in which he refers to Payne as “KP.” Maybe I’m old, but if the players think of the HC as 1 of the guys, that’s a problem.

I can't fathom anyone really listening to what Skyy Clark has to say but that is just me.
