Would be great for Wisconsin to lose tomorrow at Michigan so they HAVE to show up for an even bigger game against Purdue. Their tourney hopes will be on the line and that will make it even harder for Purdue to come out victorious and get their B1G title.

Could the Illini pull the upset in Mackey? Not likely but wow would that be sweet if the Hoosiers can hold serve at home for the final two and sneak in to a B1G title because of it.

Hell yes the Illini could win in Mackey. They’re just a plain old better basketball team than Puredoo currently.

More controversy at Alabama as Brandon “the murder weapon delivery man” Miller is having a teammate do an imitation police pat-down for starting line-up announcements.  Coach Oates had nothing to say but “It’s been addressed.”

What a trash program/school. I wouldn’t want Nate Oates within a hundred miles of the IU program. He has the moral fiber of a drug cartel capo.

While Oates was my top “realistic” option I wholeheartedly agree with you here. He has handled this situation pretty terribly. Lots of blazing red flags within that program right now. But likely $ and winning will continue to win out in the recruiting areas.   Another program I’ve added to the root against list.

***Not defending it***

We automatically jump to a "law enforcement" pat down. Just because it's the first thought that pops into your mind doesn't mean it's right. I've never received a police pat down where they checked my obliques only. It's closer to event security going through the motions.

This could be just as much of a fighter getting a pre-fight pat down as law enforcement search. Although, that wouldn't evoke the same emotions to the audience they're targeting.

Regardless if he's been doing it all season or if it was intended as a law enforcement or pre-fight pat down it's extremely insensitive given the recent events surrounding the Bama team, let alone that he was directly involved in.

Miller is suspected in connection with a murder. Police are investigating whether or not he ultimately provided the gun that was used in the murder.

Understand what you are saying, but how tone deaf Alabama has been to the whole situation (i.e., Oats saying that basically Miller was just ‘unlucky’) their actions are going to be under a microscope.  It certainly should have been in Alabama’s head that the pat down, regardless of intent, was not going to be a good look.

He what?!

Again, as in my initial post, it's extremely insensitive and shouldn't have been done. Further, he shouldn't have provided the gun. Those are absolutely true.

It's possible Miller and his teammate have been doing that all season with the intent to imitate a fighter going into the ring/octagon. Why do you think it wasn't presented as such in the media?

Regardless of the intent of the pregame player introduction ritual, it was insensitive and shouldn't have been done.

Absolutely, what people say initially is what they truly feel about the situation. It seems like the whole situation is just a burden for Oats because it's distracting to his team. Whether I like it or not, athletes and programs have a massive influence for better or worse. This will be used by PR folks as how not to handle a situation.
