TheWatShot Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Kind of like we did against Michigan, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Minnesota? Get back to me when Iowa loses to a team with a fraction of their talent. Quote

mdn82 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Iowa taking care of business against an inferior opponent on the road, like a well-coached team should do. God, I envy them.I don't. McCaffery has done worse than Crean here. I would never envy the job he has done. HoosierTrav, waitingon6, Parakeet Jones and 1 other 4 Quote
drock161 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Maryland is playing Bowie State tomorrow. How is it ok for the #2 team in the country to play a DII team in the middle of the season? Is it an exhibition or something? Quote
Class of '66 Old Fart Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 The B1G schedule gave them a full 7 days between conference games which I presume they felt was too much of a layoff and wanted some kind of game, any kind of game. Plus, Bowie State probably likes the money it's getting to be a Maryland crabcake. Quote

Though, they just beat George Washington and the guy was the first President so... pretty tough team. Quote

They have a rpi of 12 and 3 top 50 wins but have one terrible lose to lasalle rpi 248. While we should of beat penn st in my opinion it's not as bad of loss as many seem to think it was. Unlv (rpi 133) is by far our worst loss this year. Penn st was a true road game unlike Unlv which was on a neutral court and as of today penn st is a top 100 rpi team ( I'm sure their win against us push them into the top 100). Really this year there are no really great teams that have separated themselves like in years past. The margin of error is small for a lot of teams this year. waitingon6 and Ranger78 2 Quote

I understand where you're coming from but the RPI system is completely outdated. UNLV is much better than Penn State according to KenPom, which IMO is a much better way of evaluating teams. Penn State's talent level is nowhere near UNLV's. While both are bad losses, I am absolutely willing to say that Wake Forest is our worst loss because I do agree with your neutral court argument and Wake Forest is the worst KenPom team we have lost to. They're certainly better than PSU, but they are getting artificial bumps from the data. Watching them play, I think they are getting overhyped based on their extremely weak conference schedule so far and a couple of good wins in November. Same thing people say about us, except the weak part of our conference schedule included 6 top-100 games which we won 4 of and the strong part of our schedule contains 5 top-25 teams. Dayton has played 2 top-100 conference games, has 3 top-100 and 2 top 50 remaining. At least some team seeded lower than they should be will have an easier game than they expect during the tourney.
