The legend of McCollum grows in Iowa City with each win, but if you look at the man's history no one should be surprised. He won four D2 championships at Northwest Missoiuri State and had a 31-win season in his only year with Drake. The guy just wins, especially when a tournament is involved.

The Big Ten invitational in Houston this week is interesting in that Iowa gets to play its 2 biggest rivals in the ncaa tournament. Wasn’t surprised Iowa beat Nebraska. Iowa as an athletic department is in the heads of Nebraska. I was listening to an Iowa fan on Wednesday talk about how people in Lincoln were lamenting that it was Iowa again and the only sport they are better than Iowa is women’s volleyball. lol.

According to ChatGPT, the record is four teams. It’s happened twice. ACC did it in 2016 (UNC, UVA, Notre Dame and Syracuse). The Big East did it in 2009 (Villanova, Pitt, Louisville and UConn).

In 1985, the Big East got 3 teams to the Final Four with Villanova, Georgetown and St John’s. Villanova won the natty.
