IU was a topic on around the horn, and they said it was a crean problem.

He can't babysit them, so in that sense it's not.  At the same time he can punish them/hold them accountable and he's really not and hasn't, so in that sense it is.

Either way, as head coach it is on him as everything is.

Some good points in this article, I think.

http://q.usatoday.com/2014/11/04/tom-crean-indiana-basketball-suspensions-devin-davis/

"Crean did this to himself, though. He set an impossibly high bar when he arrived by declaring himself the man who would exterminate a rotten culture cultivated by Sampson and replace it with one above reproach."

"His real mistake — and it is now six or seven years old — was selling a narrative that painted Sampson’s kids as unworthy of playing at a vaunted program like Indiana. It wasn’t that simple. They weren’t villains, just as Crean’s players aren’t always going to be heroes. This is real life."

"Still, Crean got rid of most of Sampson’s players and started from nothing. Through the first three years — the worst in Indiana basketball history — he repeatedly reminded fans that he was not merely coaching basketball but changing a culture."

It really does make it hard tho with parents being affiliated. Last night was a mess.

I get that. Do feel some things should be a bit of limits for talking about.

Just speaking from personal experience, my dad would have kicked my ass if this stuff came out about me.

Exactly. Bottom line, it’s on Crean. He has to find a way to reign these guys in.

Exactly. And without getting to deep or to far removed from the current issue, aren’t (weren't ) the parents somehow instrumental in the formation of these kid's attitudes?

I'm not a huge doc fan myself but idk how she has anything to do with this. What mother won't support her child? Also I've never seen her say anything to the extent that she condoned what Yogi did. She was probably his biggest critic when it all happened.

I met Doc once at a forgettable game in 2012 when I sat next to her and Kaleb. She did not strike me as the kind of mother a kid would consider pushing around. Wouldn't be surprised at all if Yogi feared his parents finding out he'd been arrested more than his coach.

I'm not surprised. She seems like the kind of parent who gives a damn and doesn't coddle her kids.
