I believe that the strong inference would be that Sterling is saying "let's wait til the end of the season", and Basketball4iu is replying "waiting til the end of the season may not be the outcome".

There are a host of things, but the dissension between Vonleh and Crean was/is bigger than many want to admit. Fischer transferring. Calbert. KJ. Marlin. Etherington. Roth. Creek. MAJOR drop in recruiting post Blackmon. Hinted failed drug tests but multiple sources. The list is so much longer but just some of the warning signs.

There seems to be a culture of cover-up within the athletic department. From Curt Miller's dismissal to Hollowell being benched for "focus" to Vonleh, Williams, and Robinson failing drug tests. Everyone seems to be quick to cover stuff up for these people. Instead of doing that, we should make them face the media.

No way this team is a "tourney team" unless you count the B1G tournament. Too many distractions. Too much drama. And too many players (apparently) just don’t care.

The real losers in this scenario are this years' rookies (Blackmon, Johnson, Hoetzel, Zeisloft and Priller) who hitched their wagon to this train wreck. I really feel bad for them, but I don’t see this "team" going anywhere this year.

At full strength, I believe this is a tourney team and I won't back off of that. What the guys "don't care" about is something other than basketball. It's pretty public how hard these guys work every day. And you can see the improvement when you watch them scrimmage. They don't care about what they're doing off the court and that is the serious issue. If the ship somehow gets righted this year, I fully believe we will dance. I'm just not sure that will happen.

So, to bring around to my original point, you guys did post Crean can't coach. We remember.

We didn't need to wait to see the video of Ray Rice actually knocking out his wife's to draw the obvious conclusion that this is what happened when he pulled her unconscious from the elevator. Crean lost control and it was evidenced by the product on the floor and the byproduct in the community. It was evidenced by kids being busted for drugs or alcohol, unexplained defections by certain types of kids, lost recruits, lost coaches, uninspired play. That's more than just saying that Crean is a lousy coach. It's saying to the apologists that a major implosion was coming.

The red flags have been present and a lot of us noticed. A big one for me was Jeremy being benched for focus problems and Crean's inability to accept any blame for the teams lousy play and execution. Its hard to get your players to have any accountability when you have none for yourself. Even now stating his shoulders are wide or whatever during Fisch's interview. His inflated opinion of himself has rubbed off on his elitist team that doesn't believe these rules apply to them. And that's before I get into his coaching style or whatever you want to call it. Its more like a schtick, an act, a cheerleader more focused on the fans than his team.

What is everyone's take on Crean's former players tearing this team a new one? Clearly they got it under Crean's watch. He has to go, but at the same time as Verdell said "You can't expect to be babysat." Why did so many players "get it" but all of the sudden it seems only a few do?

Because there’s no leadership on this team. There are no seniors on this team. The guys like Cody, Vic and Jordy restored that leadership within the ranks of the players. Now you have guys like Yogi and Hanner are the "leadership". And these bozos are part of the problem.

The former players who are speaking out (Jordy, Derek, Cody, Vic, VJ3) have EARNED the right to criticize and are rightly POed about the current state of the program. But they also came in, figured out how to make it work, and then DID it.

The Hoosier 6 (Hanner, Yogi, Stan, Holt, Troy and Devin) have no clue what it means to be a leader.

I hope you’re right. But color me skeptical. There’s too much happening on the periphery, and we all know how distracting distractions can be.

Anyone who claims they saw this coming is lying. Sure we heard all about how Crean can't coach and how Hanner didn't get enough suspension. But no one predicted he had lost the locker room like this. Not one person

that couldn't be further from the truth. There have been threads about crean losing the team. As goodman noted today, him losing the team started even when Cody and Vic were here and people have been saying that for a while

last season we turned it over on almost 22% of our possessions

that turnover rate would ultimately prove to be a microcosm for the dysfunction within the program

in order for the NCAA Tournament to be a reality this year we need to cut out about 7% of the turnovers and limit the internal chaos

do you truly feel that is a possibility? I sure as hell don't with the type of kids littering our roster and with the man responsible for the program

I have been thinking about this all night before I spoke. I think that it would be a mistake letting Coach Crean go. I know, I know, but hear me out. If IU fires Crean, who we getting? Everyone is going to throw out the same names, Stevens, Alford, Pearl, Cal, Few, Miller. Do you REALLY think that Stevens is going to leave the Celtics for this dumpster fire? Same goes for the others, why would they want this job now when they turned it down after Samscum left? So now we are looking mid-major again. Name me a mid-major coach that you KNOW will be better and more prepared for this job than Crean.

I hear what you’re saying here, and the "would xxx leave for this dumpster fire" comes off as disingenuous. If we were to take that approach, what coach would ever touch the IU program again?

At some point, a change will happen, and there will be good candidates for the job. I say if the change is coming, why not now and get it over with.

Totally agree that we don't stand a chance with where the team stands currently. If this is the event(s) that finally gets through to the team, we could get there though. Who knows what will really happen.
