(2016) C Thon Maker

Recommended Posts

We need to put the full court press on this kid. Stick with it and hope that momentum swings the pendulum in our direction. You never know. Wins in Maui and Durham could thrust us into the national spotlight. Not long ago he mentioned that playing in a system that allowed him to play the stretch 4 instead of the 5 was going to factor into his decision. So far, as the rosters and current commitments sit, Indiana is the only school out of us, ND, and ASU that affords him that luxury. Not only does he have a big to play alongside next year, but a 5* big who will command attention in the low post. If style of play is as important as he and Ed Smith claim, then the ONLY fit is at IU.

UK was in on him hard for this year, but I think since he reclassified they have seemed to have backed off. Looks like ND, ASU, and IU are after him the hardest

It's a technicality, but he didn't reclassify. He was always a 2016 recruit, there was just talk of him joining 2015.

Brey putting on the full court press here. Thon and Matur's teammate, the guy only has mid-major offers right now.

2016 Orangeville Prep (ON) G Nikola Djogo has received an offer from Notre Dame. @NikolaDjogo http://verbalcommits.com/players/nikola-djogo

No ASU or Notre Dame? His recruitment is all over the place. I didn't even know Iowa St., FSU, and Tennessee were even in the picture. Indiana is the one constant team being mentioned.

Doesn't say how he mentioned them. Maybe it was "I don't plan on visiting Iowa St, FSU, or Tennessee"

Two part Zagoria tweet. ASU and ND are still in it.

Also, Slice was UK's lead for Thon. UK seems to have faded, and Slice has continued the relationship to bring St John's in.

We were scared of Lyle but are interested in this guy? This recruitment has TROUBLE written all over it.

For different reasons yes. Lyle's issues weren't handler issues. Lyle was grades, attitude, and stability issues. With Maker if he is cleared you don't have to worry about him. If Lyle gets cleared you are still constantly worrying about him and his fragile persona. Talent is not a question with either. Maker has more of a chance if he gets cleared. Lyle should not be a freshman and I would be willing to guess grades will always be an issue for him as well as other things.

Lyle's issues were attitude and responsibility. He gave up on teams time and time again. Maker is a competitor. There is a reason that teams interested in Lyle started to drop like flies after awhile. Teams have only gotten more and more interested in Maker. The two situations aren't even close

If a kid (Lyle) acts up kick him off the team. Its over. If this Maker/ Handler situation blows up it can damage the program. This is an NCAA investigation looking for a place to happen.

We should be recruiting well enough that we don't have to consider such risks but I digress.
