I’ve come around on the ‘22’s getting the 5th year. There’s a logic to it and a legitimate question of fairness. But TKR was a ‘21 and he’s already had 5 years. And he wasn’t an injury RS, he was a developmental RS. And he’s 24. The only argument for him is that he just doesn’t want to go overseas.

I saw he was trying come back, but haven't paid much attention. What is his argument?

Not pretending.

When is the last time we have heard of an academically ineligible player?

How much are team GPA’s highlighted anymore?

Guys at many schools taking virtually all online classes (odds of abuse…100%)

Morris was on Don Fishers weekly show and when asked about his classes he mentioned having already graduated, and kind of stuttered about not really needing many classes due to the graduation. It wasn’t clear if he was taking anything (I assume he is but he was uncomfortable) . On a side note he sounded like a real good/nice guy.

That's not really a new thing.  Matt Leinert famously was only taking one class (a dance class) the year he won the Heisman.

I had friend who was a math tutor. Had a football player ask him to just do his homework.   When he said no the dude just left and was given a new tutor.

And this was IU in the mid 2000s.  At LSU my buddy probably would have been expelled.

Academics have been murky at best for decades

Had "Blue Chips" on for background noise while I was working today -- was playing on some cable channel.

With how the dollars flow these days, I wonder when a disgruntled alumnus is gonna show up and go nuclear at a post-game presser like Happy did. Surprised that hasn't happened yet.

(BTW, I noticed this the first time I saw the movie -- when the Western coaches are scouting IU on film, Matt Nover is clearly in some of the footage. He looked an awful like Western U. power forward Ricky Roe. LOL)

Michigan State vs UConn on Big Ten + tomorrow at 7pm

Mullins has been missing time this offseason with an undisclosed injury, UConn fans who have attended open practices say he is wearing bands on both knees and speculate tendinitis. He is targeting a return for their exhibition with Purdue on October 27.

TKR has no business on a college basketball court anymore

What a ridiculous distinction. "He exhausted his eligibility over 5yrs, so of course he should be allowed back for a 6th, because it benefits him and Kansas"

Everyone (rightly) gripes about the NCAA, but schools & conferences aren't far behind.

Translation: Yes, we made this rule but it was only for looks. Okay? We don't really want to enforce it, especially when the one being helped by ignoring it is Kansas. Here is some bs logic to justify it.

I hope TKR has a terrible season.

Yeah. The SEC at least went after LSU in a comparable situation where the players actually had a much better argument. The Big 12 is just fully supporting Kansas in this? Ok...

I'm sure they just felt pressured to make the rule after the SEC and B1G did. They probably didn't actually want to and so when it comes time to enforce it they make this sorry excuse of a justification. Really pathetic.

How the hell do you get "automatically put in the draft"?

There's weak sauce, and then there's this. Unreal.

Before COVID, I believe seniors who exhausted their eligibility were automatically entered to the draft.

Old but relevant tweet:

As far as I can tell, they still have to actively declare so this excuse isn't passing the smell test at all IMO.

If anyone is ever looking for the perfect example of “a distinction without a difference”, this guy just served it up. So, what, seniors who’ve used up their eligibility aren’t automatically draft eligible unless they declare? Wait, pretty sure they are since, ya know, they always have been.

On the bright side, Bill Self seems to have lost his fast ball so Kansas will probably be a mediocre double digit loss team even with TKR.

Really interesting that certain programs with reputations (Alabama football, Kansas Basketball, et al) dropped off once NIL happened. I'm sure that is just a coincidence though.
