And that's not including the potential development of Clark and Calhoun. Those two stuck with IU because they think they have a chance to play down the road.

Daley had a torn patellar tendon in January. that seems to be a 6-12 month recovery, so it's entirely possible that he could be ready to play football by October/November.

Yup - 12/6.

So with a ten month recovery period to the field, that would be mid-October. If he got eligible that could work. Not seeing wholesale five year players with all D1 time for this eason though, right?

21% of NFL players who suffered patellar tendon ruptures over a ~15 year span returned to previous form and 45% returned to the field at all. Stephen Daley 1) becoming eligible 2) returning to the field at the low end of recovery times and 3) being close to his 2025 form is an absolute pipe dream. Not worth discussing imo. We’ll be fine.

Well, not a fun topic, but here are more details from the police report.  It’s not exactly straightforward.  I don’t know enough to have much of a view — the legal system and IUFB will have to figure it out.

Even without charges I could see Cig taking some kind of action just based on the circumstances.

I don't disgaree. I will say, if you pepper spray me.. I'm probably choking you..  but.  He's expected to not put himself in that type of situation, bottom line.

"The Bloomington Police Department said Burrus had an altercation with Kira Motley,18. She was arrested for domestic battery after Burrus Jr. said she broke a mirror in his home, pushed him and pepper sprayed him in his eyes.

Officers responded to Empire Apartments around 3 p.m. Thursday. Motley said Burrus pushed her several times in the chest and shoulder area and strangled her with his hand and forearm, police said.

Burrus reported scratches on his neck, chest, shoulder, back, face and arm. The officer took photos of his injuries. Officers also interviewed a witness and reviewed video footage."

Since he was released with no charges filed, I'm thinking that the portion of the PD report that I underlined has been key.

Sounds like he is guilty of poor choices, at least concerning women.

Cig will do the right thing. Whatever the ‘right thing’ is will depend on facts that we’re not really privy to.

Kind of what my thoughts were when I was the article. She sprayed he grabbed her maybe to get her to stop?  Regardless no excuses. Don’t put yourself in the situation. Sounds like a control or trust issue with the girl if they were arguing about him going someplace without her. Living together at 19-20 probably not the best decision either. Lots of life to live yet before settling down with a significant other especially in college. At least witnesses and video footage were available to review. Will be interesting to see what Cig does with this.

Yeah, minimally seems like a toxic relationship he needs to get out of. I'm sure Cig will discipline in some way, just a question of how severe.

Will say... if your first reaction to getting pepper sprayed isn't to violently grab the person by the throat, you're probably not be cut out to play D Line. Ha

Pepper spray is an escalator at the very least. In the current landscape of college football, the optics are even more amplified. Those investing huge sums of money in the program probably don't like this kind of publicity. Hoping for the best outcome for everyone.

B1G Media Days start today in Chicago.  FYI, Cig takes the stage Thursday at 11:30AM ET.  Appointment viewing.

The B1G itself stopped doing a media poll a while back, but Cleveland.com stepped up and has been doing it since 2011.  This year's poll is below. 

Personally, I don't mind where IU is... we're gonna play the games and we'll see.  It'll be interesting if USC/UM/PSU/Wash can get themselves into the playoff.

They are gonna be so bad this year. 
 

I legit think 1-8 is their most likely conference record but 0-9 is more likely than all other outcomes combined.

The Oregon, OSU, IU discussion is really interesting.  
 

Oregon and OSU are getting credit that their QBs both make progress and get better. But both have new OCs. Thats a crapshoot. IU kept OC but is rebuilding the offensive unit 
 

Oregon retained a bunch of their talent that never looked good in the CFP. Where as OSU and IU had to reload.  
 

Generally I Oregon looks great on paper but they have two first year coordinators.  They are gonna have some growing pains that result in at least 1 loss.  I think maybe two.  With their road schedule. 
 

OSU is going to be asking their offense to win them games with the D taking a bit of a step back.  Their O-line will need to play better for that to work. And that schedule is brutal.  This is complicated by new OC. But also important to note that OSU scored less than 13 ppg against IU, Miami and Texas. And that was with Tate drawing attention who is now gone. 
 

For IU I think the question comes down to can we improve the pass protection and find something at TE.  Generally the games I’m most worried about are OSU coming to town.  And going to Washington. 
 

Regardless though the drop off after these teams until USC gets better coaching is vast.

Although I think Texas is always overrated, I think we will know a bit more about OSU after that game.  They get the benefit of the doubt because its OSU, but I'm unconvinced that schedule will do them any favors this season.  Probably the most brutal schedule I've seen them have in several years.  Day never impresses me with his coaching.  I feel like the team's elite roster of talent covers a lot of his coaching short comings. Will be interesting to see how their O-line improves (if it does) this season and how/if the new offense benefits Sayin.  D will be solid likely behind Oregon and IU but they are always tough with the talent they get.  Not as deep though this season as they have been in the past.

Oregon...again on paper they look like the best team in the conference.  They have all of the tools but Lanning just can't seem to put it all together to get it done. 2 new coordinators certainly makes this an interesting season.

IU on D will be difficult to handle for any team.  My concern is Ponds was always on his own island and now we don't have that sort of shut down corner.  Offense will go how Hoover goes.  His play and decision making especially on the road will dictate how this season goes imo.   Our run game will see no drop off and may improve if that's possible.  Nobody is Mendoza.  He was a clutch QB when the lights were brightest not to mention we had some huge leadership with Coogan on the line that we will be missing.  TE is a big question mark.  But we have a strong receiver core that may end up going 5 wide without the presence of that strong TE.

I am worried about OSU home, UM and UW road.  We will be travelling to UM for that game.  If we beat OSU, do we have a letdown the next week?  UM with much better coaching should be improved.  But their QB is a big, big question mark.  I have my doubts he can handle IU and their complex looks on D.  

Can't wait for the season to start.
