Seems like I remember in one of those threads a couple yeas back, when we were hoping/praying/begging/wishing/pleading that year No. 3 would be it for Woody, that Kathy C said Buckner thought Dusty's Final Four run at FAU was a fluke and he didn't have the chops to coach P5 basketball.

Yeah, well, Buckner is an idiot. Prove me wrong.

Hard to hate the most likeable tamperer in college basketball.  Now he’s on cruise control. Will be able to hand select his roster for the foreseeable future. Michigan will control the B1G until Dusty moves on.

Guards I’m jealous we don’t have.

1. McKinney (Michigan).
2. Trent Perry (UCLA).

There is zero doubt dusty will control the big ten or be top two or three every year. The athletes and talent on this team were crazy and now that he won it all the top players will want michigan. Unless he leaves he will be around the next 15 years probably.

Rick Carlisle probably only has a few years left in his career. We can hope

Dusty completely dodging the Indiana/hometown kid stuff.

Michigan sucks.  The most corrupt athletic program in college athletics in 15 years.  Now I have to face ALL my Michigan friends-  who are by far the most obnoxious.
They aren’t worthy of Dusty’s southern Indiana accent.

I digress…

As a Michigan football fan and following the sign gate stuff closely, I will just say your tears taste sweet. Go IUBB, take some of that football NIL that’s top 10 and slide it to basketball to fix the program.

I suppose but why would he go to the nba honestly. I suppose its more money but when you are already making 5 million and soon to be more does it even matter at that point.

The challenge. It’s been rumored for awhile now he has NBA aspirations.

With the win tonight, Michigan becomes the first school to win a basketball championship in the same school year that its football coach was fired for cause, then arrested on three separate charges, including third-degree home invasion.

OK -- so I stole that from someone on Twitter, but thought it was kinda funny.

As Ashaman said above, rumors are that he has pro aspirations. This coming from Michigan sources. And now he could attempt to be only the 2nd coach to win a NCAA and NBA basketball championship. Rarefied air

One unnamed GM told the Michigan 24/7 guy who also has a radio show in Ann Arbor months ago that Dusty will be the number 1 college coaching option this NBA coaching cycle.

I'm sure he will, but he can afford to be picky and wait. For example, I highly doubt he would take the Wizards or Kings jobs. Bulls maybe but they just announced Billy D can stay as long as he wants. Orlando could be very intriguing if they move on.

Edit: 76ers could move on from Nurse. Would be a good gig but Morey is a snake and I wouldn't want to be around that

I mean, I think it would be hilarious if he took the Kings job and Woodson was out of a job to Dusty May.

Why do some people want to leave jobs at (very good) community hospitals to go to top academic medical centers? Why would someone move from financial planning into venture capital? Sometimes money, sometimes prestige or lifestyle. Some dudes are just wired to chase the highest level
