Kids who make 1.5 million dollars to play a game. Should the CEO of a failing mid-size company (roughly similar annual salary) be above criticism because of feelings?

And they arent kids BTW. They make money, pay taxes, vote, own cars and homes. They are young, but they are adults.

Is a CEO a not-yet-mentally-mature 18 year old who has never had pressure like this? To perform for ungrateful fans while maintaining school and living their own life? Just because people are jealous of kids taking advantage of a scene CREATED BY OLDER GENERATIONS doesn't give license to take personal shots at them. If you want to live that life, be my guest. I'm not a good person by any means, but I'll damn sure not cross that line.

1.  Dashed hopes for a new coach and his staff in recruiting (and in-game coaching). (TBH it is his first year.)

2.  Dashed hopes about the roster having ready for prime-time players.

3.  Dashed hopes that there would be enough options down the bench for the coach to show his mettle about taking advantage of matchups, tactics, and who is hot.

4.  Who are those guys?  

5.  Losing in SS Assembly Hall really pisses me off.  

6.  Referees are consistently bad and so is the NCAA.  And money corrupts and skews everything.

7.  At least IU did not have a slow big man clogging the inside so that our perimeter guys could slash in and take assists and score, right?  

8.  Fouling in lieu of quickness to stop slashers...ugh.

One positive about the year was that it was with a new coach and players.

Another positive about the year is that it is this coach's first year and we have hopes for next year.  Right?  

This thread should have both negative and positive things.

Sounds like a lot of excuses. The minute college athletes started making big money and transferring in unrestricted free agency, they sacrificed the benefit of the doubt on stuff like this.

Most of these guys are like 23, to be fair. 
 

Also, Devries and Dolson went on the radio the other night and told the whole world how bad the players were. Does it really matter if we say the same on a message board?

I will take shots at a person's hairdo or porn stache no matter their age or amount they are paid thank you very much.

I don't control what is said on a message board any more than I do for a press conference. I chose to counter the inane vitriol with a different perspective. And, emotional/mental maturity occurs around 26, so... Devries didn't make comments about players weight, or compare them to YMCA players.

Sacrifice their personal lives?  Give me a break.  Everyone on this board would most likely give an arm and a leg to play for IU for FREE.  They havent sacrificed squat.  No one want to control their lives.  They just think they should hit their free throws and rebound effectively.  Entitled fans?  You critisize?  How immoral.

Lol yeah right. I was all-conference at a below average 1A school in a below average 1A conference. If Reed Bailey can allegedly play for a million and a half I'm worth every bit of 100k.

Not all fans are entitled, just the ones expecting miracles from a mediocre team. They haven't sacrificed? Holidays with families, vacations, etc. I see so much crap about "this player was seen at Kilroy's blah blah blah". They're college kids and deserve to have their college lives as they see fit, not as some fanbase sees fit. I don't think immoral is the word you're looking for lol

I just read the quotes, and it might’ve been Devries not Dolson, but they basically said what people like to say here: misjudged the Big Ten, current players aren’t good enough (by implication), getting better players in the future.

Good gracious, clutch the pearls much?! If criticizing the game of men that make $1M+ playing basketball on a relatively obscur message board is the worst thing I ever do I feel pretty good about my chance at passing through the Pearly Gates. And if, by some off chance, they ever venture onto this site and are mortally wounded for being called unathletic, soft,or slow, God help them with the remainder of their lives.

Things I won't miss about this season?

Having 4 scholarship players never available (2 injured all season, 2 foreign players who weren't good enough)

Having to watch Jasai play

Trying to figure out how some of these guys had the numbers they did at previous schools

We were really not that far from being 8-24. Imagine if Lamar went elsewhere. LOL. It's too bad, bc I think he could have been an all-timer with some dudes around him. He almost was anyway, best shooter we've had since Blackmon.

I haven't posted in quite awhile. I normally get sad or angry when our season is over. For some reason, this year I am thankful.

I have never seen a kid bust his azz so hard and nothing much to show for it game after game than CE.  I mostly feel bad for this group because, money aside, I am sure they didn't want their legacy to end this way.  I never really questioned their effort, they seemed to play really hard.  Too many limitations along with no depth and the curse of Sisyphus.
