Class of '66 Old Fart Posted January 6 Posted January 6 FWIW, Raby said there are a lot of fake availability reports starting to hit the internet. mamasa 1 Quote
Stuhoo Posted January 6 Posted January 6 What the heck - let's spread some irrational optimism. Watch this Oregon live podcast from the beginning for some big ol bad news for the Duckies. Brass Cannon 1 Quote

Watch this Oregon live podcast from the beginning for some big ol bad news for the Duckies. Dude is whining about the timing of the portal. Yeah, it kind of sucks, but 300+ other schools are coping (including ¾ of the teams still in the playoffs). Stuhoo and southsidehoosier 2 Quote
OGIUAndy Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Will be going to the game. Are their any "organized" alumni events? Quote
TTT Posted January 6 Posted January 6 I don’t expect this game to be particularly close. Average age of IU players is about 22.5 to 23 years old. That would be close to average age of NFL rookies…..and thinking about the seasoned impact players for IU…transitioned young adult maturity. Quote
68Hoosier Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Sorry if I missed it, but are the Oregon coaches that took other jobs staying for the game or are the moving on to start working on their new teams? Quote

I know with the portal in full swing that has to limit the time they have right now. Wasn't sure if they would be on the sideline or not. Home Jersey 1 Quote

Doing 2 jobs at once with the portal at their own school and coaching with Oregon for the CFP. skhoosier2 and ALASKA HOOSIER 2 Quote
AKHoosier Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Whether or not their RB is injured is irrelevant to me honestly. We beat them by 2 scores in their home stadium when he played very well. I'll take an added advantage sure, but won't be deflated at all if the report turns out to be false. Quote

According to their twitter posters Dan has a rule of no playing if you are in the portal. But if he's following Stein and they are thin maybe he will allow it? 68Hoosier 1 Quote

Magnanimous Posted January 6 Posted January 6 The line hasn’t changed but the analytical projection just moved from 66% to 70% in our favor. Quote
Brass Cannon Posted January 6 Posted January 6 So I guess he got hurt on the pointless stat padding play at the end of the game. Thats gonna be some difficult questions to answer for lanning BannerVille 1 Quote
Magnanimous Posted January 6 Posted January 6 1 hour ago, Stuhoo said: It's not that they don't have a talented guy on the bench, it's that Davison is a very experienced fresman, is very talented, and is 230 lbs. Davison is their short yardage guy and he had notable success against IU in our first matchup. They still have a hyper-talented but also small-ish freshman, Dierre Hill, that will now split game duties with Whittington. Leaning on Hill for 30% of the game means they would have an undersized freshman in pass protection for those plays. And behind those two? They had all three other scholarship running backs enter the portal. So it's converted tight end or walk-on after that. Adding to that, Dante Moore is not in any way a running quarterback; he's tall, skinny, and not especially fast afoot. Haha I was just speaking generally about comparing this matchup to the last one. Wasn’t in reference to them potentially having a sleeper 7th string RB up their sleeve. Stuhoo 1 Quote

Just can't get enough IUFB content these days. Was in-office (in Portland) yesterday before the Davison news broke. Ducks were all relatively optimistic but not expecting to win. It's funny because it's an uno reverse of the lead-up in October where I expected us to lose just because we were evenly matched and no one wins in Autzen but Washington and Oregon. Lot of discussion about problems with our silent count and the need for our O-line to have a stellar game if we wanted to win. This time around, they feel like the game is going to come down to their O-line and what they learned from facing Haines once already. They share a belief they can win if Moore has time to throw and they get the run game going to keep us honest. Looking forward to going back in on Thursday to see how things have changed.
