That didn’t help. But if you want to be brutally honest the one thing we’re still not elite at is along the LoS. We got wore down and PSU still has excellent talent that started to take its toll. A testament to the toughness of our guys that they pulled through.

On offense I would agree with you. Our defensive line has been outstanding this season

I agree. Talent matters and Coach Smith got them to believe that they could win the game. Being at home was a huge relief to PSU. Our lack of quality depth was exposed some in this game. With Cignetti we'll get there in terms of talent but it's going to take a few cycles. Fortunately, Coach Cignetti is really good at identifying talent in the portal. I would be shocked if PSU doesn't win the last three games on their schedule. We need very badly to get as healthy as possible before we get to the playoffs.

Agree. I think they were just fatigued on the last drive or two.

I was also very impressed with the sportsmanship demonstrated by Fischer when helped the PSU quarterback off the turf after the desperation throw. That expression of respect for the opponent is missing far too often these days. I have grandkids involved in youth sports and way too often the lack of sportsmanship is glaring. And more often than not the parents are the worst. I wouldn't expect anything less from a player who Cignetti brings into the program. Winning is important but doing it the right way is more important. Congrats to a fine young man.

I know Omar got a lot of love from the game and he deserves it.

Charlie Becker had a better game.  Holy hell he had some great clutch catches.  Fantastic game!

Seeing how the staff has a plan for integrating young players - Becker, Landino, Hardy, Ndukwe, Bond, etc. - has been a masterclass in program development.  I am sure Cig and Staff will hit the portal hard this offseason by necessity to fill the doughnut hole in Junior & Sophomore class depth, but I dont expect that to be the case moving forward.

Ajani too. He officially arrived this week; beat out a 21 year old portal transfer from O$U, and will start for the next three+ years.

You guys notice how Ohio State fans have been quick to attack our legitimacy lately? Has to be good sign .

Politely remind them that Ohio State finished fourth in the Big Ten last year and didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs!

That was the happiest I've ever seen Cig.

Definitely.

I keep forgetting this -- but in addition to the great comeback, given his deep West Virginia connections (as a player and his dad coaching there), I suspect he hasn’t liked Pennsylvania State very much for many decades, making Saturday a little nicer.

Great new cover photo…or whatever it’s called.  That catch alone should garner some NFL interest, I would think.  :)

Anyone with a more discerning OL eye than mine care to comment how Ajani did vs how the OSU dude, that got pulled, was doing?

On a side note I know we needed OL bodies but it’s kind of interesting that the OSU guy was an unusual addition for Cig in that he didn’t fit the “production is what matters” mold/playbook.
