Can get the lure of going to be a big name program of Penn State but VT isn't that.

Location is a toss-up.  IU is only 1 hour farther away from him than VT

The relationship with Franklin or $$$ are the only things they might have an advantage in.  We could outbid obviously but not sure how much we would have on the table and i could see Frankin willing to spend big to get the ball rolling faster in an important year 1 for him

I wouldn't count them out. Va Tech is in the ACC and Franklin has a really nice pipeline in DMV (An IUFB pipeline and we'll be losing recruits to them), two CFP wins under his belt and an INT away from playing in the National Championship.

Showing my age here but having personal experience with Blacksburg, back in the early 90s, the overall community culture in that neck of the woods are pretty fanatic about football. Moreso than folks in Bloomington prior to Coach Cig. What I'm saying here is coaching matters and the Hokies upgraded. Personally, I see them competing for the ACC and CFP championship in the coming years. I could be wrong of course. But ultimately, PSU really messed up letting Franklin go.

My gut says VT, his existing relationship with Franklin and Co and he visited them before setting a commitment date.
