Do you know which one?

I’m just now seeing this. It’s hard to get on here as much in the summer but it was Leal. Goode is still up in the air.

Ristic with 11pts and 7assts in a 14pt win over Iceland. Game replay above. Ristic is #5. Former short time IU target Leo Curtis played for Iceland(#9)  and had a nice game, though his 1st look of the game was a world class brick.

Side note: the gym is interesting. And that was quite a crowd.

I know we heard Rabby’s exceptionally, surprisingly negative take on Ristic, but plus 14, multiple assists (7) to 2 TO’s in 27 min in these pro-level games to me says he has game.looking forward to seeing how he fits in, would think he sees floor time as backup pg.

1st time I’ve gotten see him actually play the defensive end and he was decent. A little stiff. Change of direction wasn’t great. Awareness was good. Physicality was no problem. I think the biggest issue he’ll have early on is that his handle is a little high and a little loose. You combine that with having just ok burst and I imagine there will be times early on in which the 2 senior PG’s, particularly Conerway, get in and under and pressure his dribble and he’s not really gonna have answers. Imagine he’ll always be kind of a combo guy, but he’s got vision and instincts and he’ll be fine eventually.
Side note: If Leo Curtis gets any legit minutes at Nebraska next year that is a bad sign for them. He’s got skill and he played hard, but, man, the B1G game is gonna be crazy fast for him. The other thing is I seriously if he’s ever touched a weight. Ever. He’s both thin and soft-bodied. That is a bad combo.

It was an U-20 tournament game against Iceland, a country with a population of under 400,000 that isn’t very focused on basketball.

It would be like having a strong game against the Alaska U-20 all stars.

I hope he’s not a project, but as our 12th guy he likely is.

That’s fair, but the idea that he’s a project and  just a 12th player seems off. Hanner P was a project— athleticism without bball game skill or high level experience. This kid is playing in a pro league and appears to have good floor vision and skill (with a handle that needs improvement). That’s not a project and the problem I have is what sounds like a dismissive take on his game from Rab without actual knowledge of it. Haven’t been impressed with Rab for some time, fwiw. Demo’s assessment above was based on his game and well reasoned

At the same time, Ristic is a very key player on a U-20 team in a basketball crazed nation the size of Indiana.

Serbia defeated Slovenia 98-54 and plays France on Monday.  Ristic played 29 minutes and scored 8 points on 4-12 FG; 0-5 on 3s and 0 FT; 1r; 4a; 2s; 0b; 1t

Ristic played really well today other than just not making shots. Actually better than yesterday. He’s very composed and aware and he just doesn’t make mistakes. Also had the play of the game by straight breaking a kid’s ankles on a crossover and finishing with, swear to God, about a 6’ George Gervin-style finger roll. In this era of floaters I didn’t think anyone still had that one in the bag. Watched it several times. Btw, Slovenia blows. It could have been worse. Their paint defense was so bad that Serbia was just pounding them at the rim. Woody would have been proud.

Looking forward to watching it tonight. France was also undefeated in group, so Serbia wins their group stage.

Well that's pretty freaking encouraging. The French U20 national team is a real deal team.

Maybe the best stat of all? That he was 5-6 on 2pt fgs and took 6 fts. That means he wasn't solely scoring on catch and shoots.
