I think it was the Preston Murphy/Texas Tech asst (Moikobu or whatever) attempted hirings that seemed to really stall things out.

Then not having guys join him, etc. This part seems by design.

Couple of big swings and misses on Dix, Conwell, and maybe Bidunga.

They seemed to get mostly who they targeted after that.

I think the staff really came together great after not getting the initial guys. I think I love the staff. Wish we would have secured them a bit earlier to see what the roster would have looked like. DeVries seems to really like what he has. I’m excited to see if it’s enough.

I totally agree. I think we're on the Todd Golden plan more than the May, Kelsey, Pope plan. I think you're a 100% correct on the Murphy/Moikobu assessment.  Way to much to ask of Norton and Adams to build an instant turnaround portal roster with their areas of expertise.  HOWEVER, next year I anticipate Kenny and Rod will give us something to work with.

The “Baylor will help me grow closer to God” thing from his 247 interview seems kind of tough to overcome but I have faith in our student body’s ability to corrupt him on a visit.

Well, as it so often does, filthy lucre seems to have trumped God. Would imagine even the Lord will be advocating for NIL guardrails at this point.

Even if he’s still serious about the God thing, he won’t find Him out in the tailgate fields for the first major football game coming off a CFP berth.

2 things: 1) Didn’t realize there was a 2nd visit to Link. Pretty serious press being put on here. 2) heard Brandon Jenkins on a podcast saying Taylor is now 7’2”. Not surprising, he is a giant kid, but he moves like a much smaller kid. Rare physical tools.

I'm pretty out of the loop on recruiting this season. After we got this first roster mostly settled I checked out for a bit.

It's nice to see a 7+ footer without PUke on his list, although he doesn't seem to fit their preferred 'lumbering oaf' profile anyhow.

He had a PU offer. I think in this case it wasn’t that he didn’t fit the lumbering oaf profile so much as he has no interest in playing the lumbering oaf style. It would have been the equivalent of Woody trying to recruit him with Ballo cutups.

Sleepers did a recruiting breakdown today. Kansas and Indiana named as teams to watch. However our “Not top 10” money narrative already getting spread around and doubt we land top recruits without top money.  Indiana is going to have to “overspend” or “overachieve” first.

You do realize they got their info by reading Rabjohn's article and haven't heard it from anywhere else. They had a podcast about IU NIL money yesterday and admitted he don't anything but what Rabjohn's posted. It was also from the message board thread and Rabjohn hasn't written any article about it.

I do, but that’s why Rabjohns should be careful what he says. He’s a measured guy. He knows what he’s doing. He wouldn’t say it if it wasn’t true. Now the narrative will spread whether true or not. (Likely true). Not a great look for the program if you are acting like a big fish.

I lost all respect when he trashed Fife after Fife was fired. Most of the stuff he wrote wasn't true and he has lost a lot of assess to the program.

Good point and Curious decision by Rabjohns. I bet he regrets that move now and my guess was the Admin pressured him into it.  I would bet he was put up to that article.  I do think his access is limited compared to what it was but I don’t think he’d say what he said without knowledge of it.  Proof will be in the pudding, as they say.  Let’s see where our 2026 class stacks up in the end and it’ll be obvious where the money was.

We might not have the top tier money like UK or KU but I still think we are a top 10-15

I am not worried about it because the programs that have been the best the last few years aren't too spenders like UCONN, Florida, Houston and Purdue
