hoosierbgh Posted July 24 Posted July 24 If only there was something other than (alleged) NIL dollars spent and (often questionable) player rankings to evaluate an assemblage of portal players... Lost in the near constant tedium of the endless discussion of IU's severely flawed roster is any serious discussion of players that would have definitely made a significant difference for IU. Many of the players suggested when IU was trying to fill the roster were either pure fantasy, bigger question marks than who we ended up with, or more of a balm for fans' sense of desperation than real solutions. Many of those so touted almost certainly knew where they were going before they ever entered the portal as well. When I look at the rankings of the top portal players for this season, I don't see a lot of surefire stars as in years past. Some will turn into stars, as some always do, but many of those will be surprises. JF87, Home Jersey and J34 3 Quote

According to 247 sports, last year they lost the #4 overall transfer AJ Storr and replaced with the #296 player John Tonje Rankings are nice but they're a very unimportant part of the whole picture in terms of winning. Maybe someone like Conerway, Dorn, Miles, Alexis or Harris has a much bigger than anticipated impact next year. Less than two weeks til the first preview of our brand new program. This fresh start is beyond welcomed / very exciting. hoosierbgh, thebigweave, JF87 and 13 others 16 Quote
mike vannice Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Does anyone know when Aleksa Ristic is scheduled to arrive in Bloomington? Hoping he is able to participate in a few practices before taking off for Puerto Rico. Quote

Class of '66 Old Fart Posted July 28 Posted July 28 So with the announcement today, this is what our scholarship chart looks like per The Daily Hoosier. Obviously, in today's world of pay-for-play, highly subject to change. Stuhoo, str8baller, HoosierHoopster and 2 others 4 1 Quote

It appears that we clearly will need to up the talent level when filling the last five slots for our year two roster. str8baller, Demo, lillurk and 1 other 4 Quote

I think Harris and Miles will be considered high major type players going into next year with a question mark on the other 6. And, Conerway may have more than just 1 year. Quote

As long as it’s the right ones. This roster will need splashes of talent up and down and I’m not sure the freshman class is strong enough this year to provide that carry. We will need a couple in big impact guys in my estimation. Home Jersey and Stuhoo 2 Quote

Get big talent to go along with what we have and add some to the freshman class to balance us out, so we are not rebuilding every year. WayneFleekHoosier 1 Quote
Pagoda Posted July 29 Posted July 29 It will be interesting to see how well our two Balkan transfers fit in with the team. Growing up and playing pro ball there is obviously quite the different background from the rest of our guys. This is a bit of a test, albeit an small one, of this staff's ability to recruit guys that fit in with the new team culture. I'm not worried or anything, it's just a new dynamic in the rev share/NIL era to bring in two Euro pros. Quote

It's a likable group. I get the sense CDD's program is much different from what we've had the past 10 years, which is likely a good thing of course.
