What’s Hulls gonna do? Can we find him some admistrative type job?

Really curious where our current assistant coaches end up.

I know he gets a lot of hate but if Yasir ends up with the right HC he could be really sucessful in my opinion.

Wonder if a small program will give Kenya a HC shot. I hope so for his sake.

I agree, Rosemond could be a HC. Someone posted close to the end of the season IU's record when each of the assistants had the scout. His was by far the best record. He also has a lot of recruiting connections in the south east and we were successful in getting some of them.

Walsh seems to be a decent recruiter. His name was brought up by a lot of recruits we had a chance with and a few we landed. He could help someone.

Hunter seems to be over rated. He was supposed to be this great recruiter but has been ok at best. An assistant under 2 losing coaching staffs that spanned 8 years. Maybe a low major would take a chance on him as a HC but I don't know with that recent resume.

In fairness to Walsh, Rosemond and Hunter, they had zero support from the head coach so it's hard to really measure how good of a recruiter they were.  We extended lots of offers but there was zero follow-up from the top down.

Honestly just nuts. Never seen anything like this level of laziness in a HC.

So will IU find out who the other assistants will be soon? Were they all part of teams in the NCAAT? We know Murphy's team is still playing.

Anyone hearing rumors about other potential assistants?

If you wanted one of the best defensive minds, Mark Adam's of Ole Miss is an old former coach. He's not Drew's dad. 

Frazier familiarity with the big ten and recruiting chops would be a positive for our staff.

Thank God for direct deposit... not sure he'd have been able to go cash those paychecks...

So on the portal tracker link someone posted in the news and notes thread it has an Assistant coach tab.  

It lists the following as "in the mix"  

Chester Frazier

Drew Adams

Kory Barnett 

Preston Murphy 

Rod Clark 

 

And then the following as "rumored"  

Nick Norton 

Ryan Horn 

Garrett Sturtz 

 

What is the difference for in the mix and rumored and what are these based on?

Based on who’s in each category, rumored = “likely but not official yet.”

ok makes sense.  But what makes  one "in the mix"?  Is this just anyone the fans have speculated about?  Have we seen anything where a guy like Frazier was being considered at all?

Rabby mentioned Achoki Moikobu as a possible assistant. Was an assistant under CDD at Drake and is currently at TT.

He also mentions Mitch Ballock but as a possible "IU staffer." Unclear what role he might be considered for.

“In the mix” are less likely: Frazier was a (long shot) WVU HC candidate and will have other opportunities if he prefers, Barnett the same but a more realistic candidate for the Oral Roberts HC job, Murphy and Clark are still coaching so everything is TBD, Adams was not with DDV at WVU and could stay at UC, could be contingent on who else joins etc. 

If forced to guess I would think row of the “mix” guys end up at IU, though I could be wrong in either direction.

The other difference is the “mix” group would almost certainly be in off campus recruiting roles, I.e. traditional assistants. Maybe one of the “rumored” guys is too if DDV thinks they’re ready for that. But Norton and Sturtz could just as easily be DOBO, development coaching, things of that nature.

I think Rabby is just doing some rudimentary connect the dots with Moikobu. He only coached with DeVries for 1 year and then went to North Texas with McCasland  and followed him to TT. Before that he was at Grand Canyon. But, man, everywhere that guy has gone has gotten way better, really fast.

He's tied to Sunrise Christian Academy which has produced a ton of high level players the last decade.

Saw that. 6 years. So I imagine he’s lead recruiter no matter where he is. Strictly wishcasting here, but a guy like that and Murphy on staff would probably be fairly nuts from a recruiting perspective.
