He doesn't even practice transition offense because he believes that better teams and tournament teams don't allow transition baskets. It's out there in podcasts.

Thanks; if he’s the guy I’ll probably track those down.

I think there’s probably a balance there, but plenty of F4 teams have scored in transition even deep into the tournament.

So I guess I can see practicing it rarely, but u thought even watching today that Drake left some transition opportunities on the table

He will end up at Iowa and will be like Bo Ryan at Wisconsin! We won't win at Carver-hawkeye for 25 years!

At least a third of the games we'll lead at the half and then they'll just grind us down in the 2nd.

You can coach or you can't! The dude can coach, but I don't know what he would do in the spotlight. My only concern with him, but that is every coach that is available!

Nope just going with the narrative of him as a can't miss coach.

Nobody is can't miss! Some just have less risk! This job isn't just an everyday NCAA job!

I've said it b4 but if I could pick an active coach to do the most, the quickest and reestablish us to the highest level it would be Pitino with Pearl a distant second. Everyone else is some level of a roll of the dice.

Guys iu won't touch. I am really starting to think it will be once again an underwhelming hire.

Nobody except Brad Stevens or someone like Tom Izzo, Rick Pitino, or Jay Wright would avoid this category.  There are no "no brainer" hires who are obviously available and you're going to have to peel back more than one layer to find answers.  Ben McCollum would not be, for example a truly underwhelming hire.  Nor would a few others.

Disagree 100%.  I've got no interest in doing this again in 4-5 years nor am I interested in a quick, temporary fix.

He just went 30-3 and won both conference and conf tournament with 4 D2 kids on his roster, won 12 straight conference titles and 4 national championships at the D2 level.  But you'd rather hire a far less successful guy because he has more experience at a given level?  Why?

Personally?  I want Greg McDermott.   But I think McCollum would win.  I'd take 30-3.  I don't know about anyone else.

Very high on my list as well.  If IU was to pull McDermott away from Creighton that plays in a top 4 conference that would be a massive win for IU.  It will be tough to get him away but if they did I have 0 concern about his age and his ability to get IU back on track.  His offense has been a joy to watch for 10 + years

Virginia has entered the chat on eyeing Ben McCollum.

Wouldn't be surprising either. He will have several jobs to pick from likely. Florida State and Miami are out now but NC State just opened up. Who knows about Iowa. Maybe Cincinnati opens up. I could see Virginia going after McCollum but I think VCUs coach is going to go hard after that job.

Just last Friday the Cincy AD told the Enquirer Wes Miller would be back and end of week rumors had Will Wade a possible NC State target.

Not disputing his record concerned about only a one year d1 track record to look at. Wes Miller was the hottest thing since sliced bread and is failing at cinn. It's a very risky hire imo. Then again starting to look like he may be the best we can get

I have a feeling IU will end up with a more offensive minded coach. Danny Hurley himself has said that he looks at offense first when recruiting since offense wins championships. It's easier to teach defense than shooting. It would also be a change in direction after the last 8 years under the previous 2 coaches.
