I honestly think Dolson sees a lot of the same qualities of Coach Cignetti as he does in Coach DeVries. He saw the rapid success Coach Cignetti promised and produced. I think DeVries carries his "lunch pail" the same way.

 

Given everything that happened behind the scenes, i am more than ok with where we are!

He also won't call our best player by the wrong name, he would realize if one of his assistants played for IU and was on a national title runner -up team, and will actually live in or around Bloomington year round and not keep his house in Georgia to spend most of the off season. LOL

Scott has navigated the insane politics of IUBB to fire Woody and still keep all the donors on side such that we have top-5 NIL/rev share available for the next coach.  Not bad.  But we'll have to see how CDD performs, that's all that matters, and it's way too early to tell. 

As for Scott overall, he has been doing a pretty darn good job the past few years.  Things could go wrong of course, but so far… good stuff.

Thanks for the thoughts and for sharing them. I was focused on basketball but I agree with the perspective regarding football too.

I don't begrudge anyone on the WVU for being upset that Devries is leaving. It's a natural reaction, even for someone from Indiana like Small. We'd be upset on our side if IU lost a really good coach. 

In fact, it's just further verification that Dolson made a good selection.

Also I'd imagine we will be at the HS basketball State Finals, but if he wanted to see what what basketball means in the state he would drop by New Castle for the the 4A South Semi State Saturday.

I figured Hansbrough would spew the narrative that UNC's big win last night means they belong. To me, that's pure horsecrap. UNC's big win just means they won a game. It doesn't justify them getting a bid they didn't deserve. ... And TBH, I'm not sure either he or Childress really know all that much about IU basketball. I'll give Goodman a little credit because he follows IU more closely -- probably aided by his daughter's presence there. But man, that dude comes off as really arrogant. "I think I've made my feelings on Buzz Williams known." Oh, you did? Sorry I missed that. I guess I'm one of the few who don't hang on your every word.

Still cracks me up that in the earlier video, he says of his meeting with Dolson shortly after the news of Woody's "retirement" came out: "I told him T.J. Otzelberger was the guy I thought they should go after." I'm sure as soon as Goodman left that meeting, Scott buzzed his secretary and said, "Get me T.J. Otzelberger's agent on the line."
