No problem.  I thought it would give an interesting aspect of this and something to reference or discuss to pass the time of the next several weeks.  I was considering doing a part 2 because there are a few other names I'd be interested in knowing the results to.  Some of these names are a little more obscure or maybe not as realistic as some of the ones above, but if it got past this original group of 20 candidates, I think I might be a little concerned.  However, if I added these names, some of them would require a 4th option of "Who?" 

Other names left off of this because I was limited to 20 options above.

Good stuff....a nice way of reading through all of the arguments and getting a good snapshot of where fans stand on these guys.  

Early interesting points (as of this post anyways) is 0 Yes votes for Cronin (that will change) and Beard has quite a bit of support despite the disagreements.

Same thing I posted on TDH, Hire the best coach you can. Who cares about IU ties, style, etc. Swing for the fences and get the best guy who'll take the job.  Having said that, most of them on this list would be an improvement over the last 10yrs. I'd prefer someone that can make IU elite and is young enough to hang around for a while, but just a competent coach for the next 5yrs would be refreshing. Someone that can move us from 'disgraceful embarrassment' to 'competetive' That is how far we've fallen,

We had half the votes on Bill Self as neutral or no lol

Half of the votes being neutral for Bill Self is being way too picky for where IU is at. 

Maybe not their preferred candidate but if you have the chance you pull him, you take it.

Personally I was only no/neutral on Gates, Brownell and Shrews lol (and Beard)

A great idea for a poll.

Shocked by the lack of love for McCasland, Otz, and Shaka. Those are the best of the best young-ish, P5 coaches along with Stevens and May.

Bruce Pearl who is already 64 years old this season is preferred to those guys? We really do have fans who think there should be a coaching search every four years. Yikes.

I think the issue is that "neutral" isn't clearly defined....I'm "neutral" on several of them because, it's not that I disapprove of their hiring but for one reason or another (age, experience, style, character, etc...) they're not the ones I'm excited about.  

Do you approve of the hiring of ___________?

"eh....I'd be fine with him" (neutral) .... not dismissive

This is exactly what I was wanting to see.  We have all the back and forth but that it tends to come from a select few which can sway what the actually feeling of the majority really is.  I think some are really "delusional" about how others feel about certain candidates.

Right. And putting those in those categories is... idk.  Eye opening. 

I can't understand being excited or vote yes for Dusty but neutral on the ones I listed.

I tried to make it to where its not about the excitement level of each coach.  That's really hard to take out of it though unfortunately.
