AZ Hoosier Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Goode on the floor up a bunch at the end I love. Wish we had more of that. Still 1-4 on threes. He’s only had one game where he’s hit more than 20-25%. Not much of the sharpshooter that he was pegged to be. pumpfake 1 Quote

Not much of the sharpshooter that he was pegged to be. That's not true. 5/7 against Providence. 1/1 against Providence. 1/3 against Gonzaga. 1/2 against UNCG. 2/5 against EIU. He's 12 of 32 from three this year (38%) and he's a career 39% shooter from three. He is what he is, which is a decent three point shooter but he's always been a pretty low volume shooter. pumpfake, jonz44 and HoosierHoopster 3 Quote

I will give them credit for a much better defensive effort the second half. 14 points in the first 16 minutes and 9 of those were on pretty tough threes. Eh, that's a reach considering the team they were playing were only capable of winning this game from the arc. Water finally found it's level just by natural odds and you saw what happened once Miami couldn't hit the broad side of an Indiana barn Quote

I wouldn't give Indiana any credit for that. If it's only about water finding its level, then you shouldn't give Indiana any grief for giving up 36 in the first half. But the truth is two fold....Miami hit some shots in the first half and didn't in the second AND Indiana played better defensively in the second half. HinnyHoosier 1 Quote

RaceToTheTop Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 In Ballo's 28 minutes, IU was +29. In Bako's 24 minutes, IU was +3. In Tucker's 16 minutes, IU was -4. In Galloway's 30 minutes, IU was +27. ------------------------------------ It was a really, really bad game for both MM and Tucker. Tucker is a freshman and those games are going to happen. MM really struggled defensively tonight but I don't think Woody does enough to get him shots offensively. Even though he's leading the team in shots taken, it seems too many of those are ones he is trying to get on his own rather than it being any play to get him open. I'm very indifferent to their performance in general. I'm not bashing them nor am I giving them credit for their performance based on the reasons given. They beat a team that doesn't move the needle whatsoever and all they had to do was wait for them to stop shooting out of their @$$. I'm willing to admit that perhaps my expectations are a little higher than what I just saw against *checks notes* Miami..............of ohio tkbbn, Home Jersey and theriverpilot 3 Quote

Woodson told us last year that it’s not his job to get them their shots. Of course it is, but he doesn’t think it is. Quote

It was a 17.5 line, IU won by 19. It wasn't a great performance but it wasn't the disaster you are making it out to be. I checked my notes as well and Miami of Ohio led Michigan with three minutes left in the first half. If you are clutching your pearls on a 19 point win against Miami of Ohio, you'd better be prepared to go apeshit later because this won't be the worst performance going forward. Quote

His biggest issues today were certainly being burned by smaller, quicker players. He's shot the ball well this year but defensively he's struggled when he's guarded the 3. But he has been shooting the ball very well (not today, but for the year he's at 53/45/92. A better coach utilizes his strengths more and minimizes his weaknesses. WayneFleekHoosier Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 If there was ever a debate: McNeely>>>Tucker as a college basketball player. Tucker’s current strengths don’t match winning basketball trends. I really like the kid so I’m rooting for him to find a way to make winning impacts. The game was pretty much a microcosm of Woodson’s 3 plus years. Final result ended up decent but the offense rarely looks good. And the defense even more rarely looks good. Im not sure how to describe it but based on the attendance the feelings are mirrored by much of the fanbase. One day, we can be a respected college basketball program again. tkbbn and Home Jersey 2 Quote
