Not a portal player but I'll put it here anyway.  Story is behind the paywall.

“Indiana coach Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers are hosting Naperville (Ind.) North QB Jacob Bell for an official visit this weekend.

As a senior Bell completed over 63 percent of his passes for 3,082 yards and 38 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. He added four more rushing scores.”

I heard some smoke that IU mighthire Ball State’s QB coach. Trying to nab Ball State’s QB commit would make perfect sense.

Also:

“Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula has visits scheduled to Iowa, UCF and Indiana, a source tells @On3sports. @mzenitz first.

Indiana visit is lined up for this weekend.”

Wonder if this means Mendoza is a UGA guy? Also doesn’t fit “production over potential,” to bring in a highly recruited backup quarterback. But, it is Interesting Iowa is on his visit list; they got their QB for next year: (hank brown). So, looks to be he’s okay sitting or competing for a job!

We shall see, I trust CCC!

Would Mendoza start at UGA?  Hopefully not losing out on him.

I think a Pribula vs Jackson competition might be pretty close.  Neither really has a leg up on experience...Although Jackson would have an advantage of being in the system longer.

Going after Bell is curious given CCC had recently commented that we don't need another young QB given that he took 2 in last class.  Hopefully doesn't mean a transfer leaving.

QB coach or former HC? Mike Neu would be a great addition to the IU staff.

If I had to make a bet in Vegas, that is exactly the reason for the Bell interest.

Pribula would have started at a lot of schools, just unfortunately was behind Drew Allar. He’s not an ordinary backup QB as he’s appeared in every game the last two years as PSU has put a couple of packages in for him.

Im a little confused with the plan for QB is, does this all still continue to happen if Mendoza commits next week? I’m also curious the staffs plan for Cherry long term.

I'm guessing Mendoza isn't a lock if Pribula is visiting. Cig isn't going into next season with just one experienced QB on the roster. Cherry has 4 years of eligibility remaining and another 1-2 seasons to develop before turning him loose.

is Cherry better than Mendoza?

I've been holding this one back because there's plenty of logical reasons for it, but...they did give Mendoza some snaps this year. None for Cherry.

At the very least I found it interesting.

Bingo. I think some are assuming Cherry is ahead of Mendoza? But I don't think that's the case, personally.

Mendoza and Cherry both played in the Western Illinois game although Mendoza came in as the 3rd stringer.
