Quarterback from Wisonsin -- Tyler Van Dyke -- in the portal.   Started at Miami (Florida) from 2021 through 2023, throwing for over 7400 yards with 54 touchdowns to 23 interceptions and completed 64% of his passes. Was Wisky's starter this year but sustained a knee injury in the third game and missed the rest of the year.

I'd take basically every portal QB I've seen over him

Getting a visit from Lee Beebe, RB from UAB. We offered Javon Tracy, WR from Miami OH. Part of the gigantic Decatur Central family of Tracys that have played college football.

Didn’t he have a brother play for us or am I thinking of another Decatur Central guy?

Seems like Cig is going after younger guys, which is good for longevity. Would love a couple of proven leaders/vets though!

Wonder whats happening at QB...

And some big guys with experience in the trenches

Idk who all are brothers or cousins, but Larry played CB here. Tyrone played at Purdue and plays for the Giants. And I know there are more.

Yes, as great as this season was, I’m not sure it’s sustainable long term. Don’t mind filling immediate needs with productive players and that should be the goal…but replacing 14-15 starters every year with one year rentals seems like it’s destined to backfire at some point.

I'm really intrigued by Reese Poffenbarger after seeing someone clamor for him on another board. MD kid who originally started out at Old Dominion but transferred to Albany where he was an FCS All-American throwing for 6600 yards and 60 TDs in 2 years. Transferred to Miami FL this past season where he was thought to be the starter until Miami got Cam Ward. Certainly fits the production model. I am a big fan of the Ball State kid who just put his name in the portal, Kadin Semonza. Under-recruited kid out of powerhouse Mission Viejo in California who was MAC Freshman POY and lead the conference in yards, TDs, and yards per game. Would have 3 years of eligibility left

Not sure why you would say that.  His numbers at Miami (F) are basically what Rourke put up against MAC competition when he was at Ohio.  There are differences in the way  that numbers translate and I'm sure that Cignetti looked at more than Rourke's numbers, but Van Dyke has talent.  After he got the job at Miami near mid season as a freshman, he put together a six game string where he threw for 300+ every game and had 20 touchdowns.

If Cignetti felt he was the guy for the system, I'd have no problem with it.

Fickel just said the other day that they don’t even know how long his recovery will be. Definitely wouldn’t have spring ball. I don’t think it’s a remote possibility that they go after someone like that whether they like his tape or not.

I don't think he's very good and no ability to help his underwhelming completion % with his feet.

And outside of that 6 game stretch, 4 years ago, he's under 63% completion % for his career and his TD/INT is 34 to 20.
