Class of '66 Old Fart

IUBB vs Louisville - Wednesday, 11.27.24 @ noon on ESPN

All this talent and zero direction... Woodson's direction is aimed at the beach. What an embarrassing waste of talent and resources. When the coach doesn't care it's hard for the players to care, which means it is impossible for successful play execution. This was all made clear today if it wasn't already. Can't score, can't get rebounds, can't even keep our hands on the ball. Malik and Ballo were the only players with energy today and it showed. We are beyond dysfunctional, we are broken and that stems from poor to non-existent coaching. Wake up Woodson, we're playing basketball here!

Players getting millions and they produce this? Take away the candy stripes...sure, its symbolic but they do not deserve it. I am having a hard time connecting with guys who come in as mercs for big cash but play like they have something else to do.

I don't doubt that these players want to compete and win at a high level. I'm just not convinced their coaches share in that desire. I had a job once where my coworkers and I wanted success more than our boss did. It was demoralizing, and the culture sucked.

When you're down 30 in the second half to an unranked team and your 66-year old coach looks like he's asleep on the bench, it's time to move on. It's that simple.

The day got away from me and I checked to see what time the game was. Realized I missed it and that we lost by nearly 30 to a Louisville team that doesn’t have near the talent on roster as us.

Glad I missed it. For years we talked about apathy setting in. It’s set in.

I truly have no passion for IUBB anymore.

Hope they send Woody off after this season and FINALLY get the next hire right.

The only difference is that it will take actual results to get me motivated to watch and buy tickets again. I’ll never have expectations without having proof, ever again.

Austin:  Well coach what do you think happened?

Coach:  we just didn’t respond,  we didn’t play well right out of the box, I got to try to help fix that, I got to go back to the drawing board, we were on our heels, I got to get this figured out and get this team playing better for longer stretches.  We got to get better.

Austin:  Ok coach.  Thank you.  Good luck on your next one tomorrow

Coach:  Thank you.

Interpretation:  I, staff and players like all the money but we really have no idea what we are doing.  (We will just ride this horse as long as the money is there).

Will somebody please convince me that Kanaan Carlyle is good at basketball?

College fans are going to learn what NBA fans do in free agency. Bad teams have lots of mediocre players who put up points.

I am not saying that is Carlyle necessarily but the fit here is rough. Whatever he was doing to score points at Stanford isn’t translating over.

We all have it wrong.   Woodson knew they were likely to go 1-2 if they won today!  Lose today and then go 2-0 in the losers bracket.   Woodson playing chess while we’re playing checkers!!

Good point not to mention that Gonzaga must be thrilled they most likely dodged a bullet.
