I am looking to buy a new grill or griddle for tailgating this football season. Does anyone have one they absolutely love? Since I will have a freshman at IU my wife and I figured we better feed him and his buddies at tailgates. I have a Blackstone at home which we use a lot but looking for a grill or griddle combo if those exist or just a grill and will purchase a griddle flat top.

I believe what you're looking for is the Blackstone Tailgater. There's a few different options. Once I went griddling I never found a use for a traditional grill again, but I think they have half griddle half grate options.

Personally I'm going to be rocking the easily portable 17-incher and won't need much else. I'll bring my power bank and a crockpot when it starts getting cold.

What size propane does your 17-incher use? That might be something I can get.

Gas on both sides?

I would prefer something that uses the 1 pound propane tanks since I have about 8-10 of those laying around

Comes standard with a hookup for the little coleman tanks or they have a cheap adapter you can use to go to the big grill tanks. The little tanks have gotten crazy expensive in the last few years so I’d go the adapter route.

Walmart has the 17in for under $100 almost always.

Just saw your post about the tanks. 8-10 would last a LONG time. They’re really efficient.

I bought this for my mom 3 years ago. She loves it.

You could very easily transport this in a truck bed. Charcoal on one side, gas for the griddle on the other.

We use a real propane tank though, not a small one that's pictured.

I didn't realize they had gotten so expensive. But just checked you are right $8 a pop

I like this a lot. I do have a couple of bags of charcoal sitting around at home too.

Get yourself a 22” Weber Kettle. You can get them used for pretty cheap and they’ll last forever. You can grill or smoke with them. You can’t go wrong with one.

Seconded

I purchased a 22” inch 2 burner Blackstone and got the stand to go with it. Put it together tonight, going to season it tomorrow night. I’m pretty excited for the 31st to get here.

I have the same one. You will not be disappointed with that griddle! I have one for tailgating and a large Blue Rhino Razor for home. Man, I do not miss a grill. IMO, 10x's better than a grill.

Go IU!

I agree other than it can’t replicate a good steak sear that charcoal puts on! Also, they can’t smoke a chuck roast or brisket!

My only regret with my 22” is that I got the “permanent” legs. Impossible to transport for tailgating without a truck. Other than that it can’t be beat.

I’ve seen people chop the legs to be a little shorter. If you can sacrifice some space they also make an 18.5” Jumbo Joe that has shorter legs and a lid holder.

I’d pay good money to see Mrs. Hova’s expression watching me do whatever it would take to make my Blackstone legs shorter.
