Ghost of Rick Majerus Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Fantastic! Seems like an incredible kid and a great basketball player. Happy to have him. Quote

You may need to question a little bit what your standards are for quality addition. This may be quite literally as good as it gets in matching exactly what we needed with who we just added. Three level player with extraordinary leadership and proven accomplishments who will have three years of eligibility. Oh my goodness, this is a massive pick up I like this commitment! He’s going to be better than X ever was at point guard! Welcome to Hoosier Nation Myles Rice! Now bring on Ballo, Carlyle and Hickman and now we are set pretty well. 2 of 3’and it is still a great recruiting job! Go Hoosiers! Feathery 1 Quote
mdn82 Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Big time upgrade from what we have had in position probably since Yogi. X had talent, but it didn’t translate to consistency in production. Big first get. Keep stacking talent. We need it everywhere. Still want 2 more dudes that can go out get theirs when needed, and knock down open 3’s. Tucker was not a portal kid but was a late, short recruitment add and while not the shooter Liam was he can be a big help down the road. I'm not even joking here: are you Mike Woodson? On extremely low volume, with their feet set, and nobody guarding them. The two combined made 23 in over 1,000 minutes on the court. Looking at raw percentages is DUMB. CSP, RaceToTheTop and Stuhoo 3 Quote

AZ Hoosier Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 I'm not a fan of the apparent portal strategy, but Rice is the exception. Great story, great talent, great get. I don’t have a problem with getting a kid that fills a need via the portal. Let’s do that every year. My issue is a staff of coaches that don’t/won’t recruit throughout the year then rely on the portal to build a team. The latter describes the efforts of the current coaching staff. In spades. Not sure, but there are two guards on the current roster and one guard in the NBA who committed in the fall of 2021. Tucker is also a wing and its yet to be seen how he will be used. Quote

Leal attempting three 3s at 40% is likely better than him attempting 1 at 47%. So why didn't Woody get him more 3s? We were one of the best 3 point% teams in '23, but low volume. Why not get those guys more 3s? If he didn't the last 3 years why will he do for Rice and Carlyle? MikeRoberts, thebigweave and J34 2 1 Quote

IMO we did try to recruit throughout the year but the biggest issue was Woody's decision to focus on a too narrow list of 5-star priority targets and letting some quality players slip away as a result and it burned us in the butt. And I'll also say that Woody's lack of personal presence on the road clearly didn't help. ebridges24, MikeRoberts and RaceToTheTop 3 Quote

You are focusing on Leal and ignoring the two that were put together for the original stat -- the other being Cupps. And the answer to the Cupps item is that there were more shots there. He chose not to take them. Quote

I think the list you put together was like 40 targets we had contacted. Last year I'm not sure even by the end it went beyond 20. Quote

Unfortunately you can't blame Cupps for that. Quote
Napleshoosier Posted April 14, 2024 Posted April 14, 2024 Hey guys, this NIL bucks is pretty cool. Just think how we missed out over the years with paying kids to come play for us vs. well we know a lot of the schools. Lol. Wouldn’t it be just choice if we figure out we have more money than those clowns to buy our team? Just thinking! SMH college ball has been destroyed! AZ Hoosier 1 Quote
