If they sign either Federiko or Miller it's no longer clear, but I would still speculate that even then, Bailey starts at the five. We seem to have too much roster focus on the 1-3 (Wilkerson, Conerway, Miles, Dorn, Drake, Enright) and will start three of them, along with Tucker D and one other. I would guess the one other is Bailey. JaybobHoosier, str8baller, thebigweave and 3 others 6 Quote
pumpfake Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 We're conditioned by 9 years of teams that struggle to play up to their individual rankings. As someone else alluded to, we'll need to be better than the sum of our individual parts. I'd argue that is required for any team to be really good. Getting back to respectability is going to require quality coaching and hopefully DD is the level of coach we're all banking on. Soulsnipes, Banksyrules, Hoosierfanyuh and 3 others 6 Quote

Telling me that in the event they sign Federiko/Miller on top of Alexis, that duo is only going to play ~15 mpg? Nonsense. Quote

I'm not saying he's playing exclusively at the 5, but he's pretty clearly playing the 5. He and Alexis can coexist, for sure.... Alexis played a lot with Haugh, who is a comp for Bailey. What's confusing? He's not a 30+ mpg player in the B10. He was barely a 30 mpg player on a terrible A10 team. Brings a lot offensively, he gives you next to nothing defensively. IU isn't good enough defensively 1-4 for him to play the bulk of his minutes at the 5. And if he is playing the bulk of his minutes at the 5, it'd be an equal rotation with someone like Miller or Federiko....I could live with that. Quote

You still have a massive deficiency at the 5 defensively. You have close to 20 mpg to sell at the 5 spot, which is right in Federiko's wheelhouse. Hoosier987 and Home Jersey 2 Quote

JimmerNoe Posted April 25, 2025 Posted April 25, 2025 I expect we will pay big for one of the remaining “good” bigs. We are probably one of the few still sitting on money and have plenty to sell I expect we get Curtis. This would leave us with Bailey, Alexis, Curtis, and one more quality portal big splitting the 4/5 minutes that are not filled by Devries at the 4. I think this will be fine. Not overwhelming but top half B10 frontcourt. I’d like to take a flyer either on a freshman/euro guy or pay a premium and grab one more “stud” of any position. BannerVille 1 Quote

It sounds like we're in bad shape in the frontcourt if Alexis plays any bigger role than say Peyton Sparks did. Just a spot player here and there. CSP and Hoosierfanyuh 2 Quote

I could live with that too, and I think that’s probably the plan. I think there is one more big coming and they will each play 20ish minutes at the 5. Then you’ve got Devries at the four and Bailey sliding over at times. there will be some mop up minutes for the bigs like Alexis or Curtis but I find it hard to believe coach is banking on them playing much more than that.
