Good probably not great or elite.  That’s 2 of 18 teams. I think k we will grab a 7’ regardless. I just don’t see the big ten as a big dominant league.

You're right, I don't think any conference is big dominant anymore,  but  the B1G usually has solid post players. Not necessarily 20 & 10 types, but big bodies that can rebound, defend and score a little.

Maybe I've gotten spoiled with TJD, Ware and to a lesser extent Ballo recently, but from the little I've seen of Bailey he doesn't seem like a 'center'. Certainly not in the mold of most of the teams in the S16 this year.

For year 1 I just want a big that can spread the floor on offense. Then be able to box out to rebound. Rim protection would be a distant 3rd from an importance standpoint to me. But DeVries had a top 15ish defense at WV, I’m sure he knows what he is looking for.

Gonna cost a bag-and-a-half apparently

If he can fit into what DeVries wants to do and would be a good teammate, he might be the player you break the bank for.  He probably needs at least two more years in college for development so he could stick around for more than a season.

It sounds like he’s as good or better of a prospect than the JUCO who signed with Auburn and I assume DDV was prepared to make a decent offer to him, so maybe he would for Thiam too. Gonna be some competition for Thiam, as well as the freshman from St John’s (Maker).

He's also taller and is more advanced offensively and playing up a year.  Hitting more than half of his free throws and weighing more than 200lbs is also a bonus.  This young man has tremendous upside!  It seems as though DeVries is still sorting out what will be one of the largest coaching staffs in college basketball - maybe he could find a spot for Mamadou N’Diaye to come and take over Kenya Hunter's responsibilities working with the bigs.  Between him and Drew Adams IU could probably have first shot at any A-HOPE type prospects.

I agree with you about Maker, but Thiam is the unicorn.

Welp, the UCF staff under Dawkins does have some interesting assistant coaches.

Just sayin
