@str8baller Stu was specifically talking about DDV’s guards not necessarily being high-volume 3 point shooters, not the offense overall

I know. I was referencing that. One of their bigs significantly contributed to their 3 point total last year but the other one shot no 3’s. They shot a high volume of 3’s and their guards took most of them with Small and Powell accounting for over half. Small shot the most at over 7 attempts a game.

that is fair.  I think the pace he played at was more due to the resources available to him to put a team on the court imo.  Should be no reason to run and shoot.  IMO based on who we have brought in thus far, we want to score and score quickly.  All commits thus far can stroke the 3 ball

I think the best coaches have a system that is a strong preference and can coach multiple ways. So if CDD can do that, I’ll be very happy.

I think finally pulling some comparative stats the one thing I notice is that they tend to vary. That could be a good sign as he’s mostly won, which has been the constant.

His first year in the tourney at Drake they were pretty slow (271st) shot very few 3s but made them and had a much better offense than defense. Last year at WVU they were really slow (331st) shot a lot of 3s, didn’t make a ton, but were excellent on defense vs a poor offense. Yet they won both seasons. His last year at Drake they were above avg in tempo (148) shot quite a few 3’s, made a lot, and had a balanced team as far as off and def efficiency goes.

No real pattern to me except that he’s won with varying statistical profiles. I think I view that as a positive and it wouldn’t surprise me if he let a talented offensive team off the leash to run even more.

It is amazing how far down the Orange have fallen, and I don't blame him for getting out of town.  I can see him as the first big off the bench or a spot starter.

Conner Hickman from Cincy in the portal.  I imagine he'll be a Hoosier on the bench?

Isn't he out of eligibility? He played 13 games this year. Guessing he's seeking a waiver of some kind, but I don't know how strong the chances of that are.

I'm not sure how he has eligibility left.....20-21 he only played 10 games, but that was the covid free year.  Every other year he played at least 24 games from 21-22 through 24-25.

Did they still give medical redshirts that year?

He'll (Lampkin) will have to have an NCAA medical waiver.

That’s a good question. Also, I know he’s a solid player, but I have never seen him good. Not once. If he ended up at IU he’d need to pay me a piece of his deal to not watch him.

I could be mistaken but IIRC JUCO years no longer count against eligibility. Not saying that’s the case with Lampkin. But I wouldn’t bank on CBB getting younger now just because we are past the COVID extra year of eligibility. Given that and the transfer portal, a lot of HS prospects that in the past would get a D1 shot have to go JuCo / D2. Going to be a lot of talent in those ranks for the foreseeable future. Staffs that can identify who translates and who doesn’t will benefit a lot. Can’t wait to fill out the roster and staff. Gonna be fun to watch IUBB again.

Welcome to NCAA basketball where everything’s made up and how many years you’ve played doesn’t matter

I am assuming he is saying he gets five because the COVID year he got hurt.  If it didn’t count for all the other players….don’t understand how it would give him a fifth.
