I think we will make the tournament easily this year. No bubble, no play in game. Easily.

Not being a d*ck, but why are you so confident about this?  We don't even know what our roster will look like.  The Big ten has MSU, MI, PU, WI, & IL who'll be projected to be battling for the league crown and there will be 3 other teams with new coaches - IA & MD won't be slouches. Finishing 7th or 8th won't 'easily' put us in the tournament, let alone guarantee advancement.

Any coach who can put us in the top 5 based on our current position will have to be very good, practically a magician.  It'll be great if that is what we have.

I think that should be expected. We have good NIL to spend and Kelsey, Pope, and Dusty all did it in their first year. I’m of the mindset it shouldn’t take years to build with the portal. It would be great to have 4 year players. I hope we get some but that doesn’t appear to be the norm anymore with $$ being a motivating factor. Let’s hope CDD can get some guys in the portal that stay multiple years that can help develop a winning culture.

I've seen many references to April 7... what is so magical about that date?

The district judge on ruling on approval of the house settlement. So after that date schools can start giving revenue share $

I think April 7th was an important date relative to the new NIL rules. If the House settlement goes thru on time, a clearinghouse was to be set up that would review all NIL deals to see if they represent fair market value. No one really knows how its going to work or how strict they will be. People like Osterman were saying that programs with lots of NIL money to spend would ideally have many of their deals signed before those deals would have to be reviewed (i.e. before April 7th).

Definitely. But there are multiple schools of thought. There are others who think schools that are dedicating a higher percentage of revenue sharing to basketball prefer to wait - plus some schools (apparently) have concerns about how NIL deals will be treated and would rather understand it first.

We're actually ahead of schedule compared to how DDV constructed his roster at WVU by already having Enright committed.

Hansberry-- April 21

Harris-- April 21

Okani--- April 25

Andre-- April 30

Small-- May 1

Yesufu-- May 12

Stone-- June 4

I know! lol. I meant to show his name. It was screenshotted. That’s why I deleted and made a new one with his name

So.. by having Enright in the fold, we're actually ahead of schedule, compared to DDVs season at WVU.

Powell didn't sign until May 7, Tenner April 4 commit/signed April 18, Oyeadier didn't sign until August..

So literally, we are ahead of schedule, kinda significantly by already having Sisley, Enright compared to DDVs group at WVU.

One thing I cannot tell is if more players are signing sooner this year (to get ahead of the April 7th House Settlement) vs last year.

If players are signing sooner this year, the pacing comparisons to last year may not be relevant.  But again, I’m not sure if this year is materially different or not.

More people are signing earlier this year because of 4/7.

I went over the the NIL at On3 and based on available talent.

There are ton of 6'5"-6'8" guys out there that can shoot, rebound and defend that won't break the bank. We're going to be alright.

I’m surprised we haven’t heard much more about Jayden Stone. He hasn’t even entered the portal yet which really surprises me

Agree and it seems that way, but would need to quantify it to know if it’s a material difference vs last year.  Unfortunately I can’t find any articles or analysis on this.

But, in the end CDD is gonna do whatever he is gonna do, so while I am curious it is what it is.

Everyone just needs to chill. I've no doubt that CDD will pull together a complete roster by the time practices start. It'll most likely have fewer NBA wannabees, fewer lazyasses, more role players, and the potential to look like an actual "team", by the end of next season. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

Move out of state and see what people think of Indiana as a state.  Answer…they don’t.  Coming to IU has to be about 1) the program 2) the school 3) unfortunately now the bag.  Feel free to argue the order.  We have not had #1 since RMK.  We still had residual cachet for a bit, but that shine isn’t there for most of the kids now.  The only thing these 18-20 year olds have seen or know of IU is talk of the glory days and talk of a “cathedral” to basketball known as assembly hall unless they grew up in Indiana.

we have name recognition, an awesome campus, a legendary court to play on, etc etc etc.  what we don’t have is any CONSISTENT/PREDICTABLE success that any 20 year old has seen in their lifetime.  Sadly we are just part of the mix now because tons of programs now have the money, and many have built solid programs.  A revived Program is what we need.  We just experienced what buying a team gets you.

I hope CDD is the guy, I’ve grown numb to the mediocrity after decades.  Let’s get the right players.  I’ve waited this long.  A few weeks isn’t going to kill me if he’s all about building a culture.

P.S. I moved to the southeast, and yes, the amount of Dew consumed here is ASTONISHING

Out of curiosity, which part of the southeast? I only ask because I am curious about the Auburn and Alabama basketball fanbases. I have family from here in Indy who attended Auburn and they're big fans of the football program (obviously) but only recently started following and caring about basketball. Now they're rabid basketball fans, not too dissimilar to Indiana basketball fans. But their entire lives up until now they never cared about Auburn basketball; in fact, my cousin who graduated from Auburn in 2005 is still an avid IU basketball fan to this day.

Do you see this sort of excitement for college basketball happening down there? Even if you're not in/near Alabama, I bet you encounter a decent amount of SEC basketball fans. I'm just curious what the excitement level is for the sport and if it's anything like what it is in Indiana -- and by extension the Midwest as a whole. Given this past season in particular, I feel like there would be a huge wave of basketball excitement gripping the region.

Once we fill out our roster the coach’s son will probably still be the best player on our roster.

I don’t see anyone actually worrying that we will fail to get ten D1 scholarship players.

What I am looking forward to is a coach that can turn those players into a cohesive team, regardless of the hype surrounding the roster.

I would agree with that since the coaches son is one of the best players in the country……….

79% players in the portal haven’t signed yet according to on3 and there’s still time for more to join.

Not sure how it compares to last year but this speaks to how early in the process we still are.

He's signed two guys.  pretending Tucker doesn't count is dumb.
