IUBB vs Northwestern - Sun 2-18-24 3pm FS1

Mike Woodson said the offensive issues were “simple” in his postgame press conference.

“You watched the same game I did,” Woodson said. “You got to make shots. We had some good looks and we just didn’t knock them down. Nothing scientific about it. We moved the ball well enough to get open shots. You got to step up and make them. It’s that simple.”

This is the same excuse Archie gave game after game.  Every team misses shots.  You make up for off nights by limiting turnovers, rebounding and hustling after loose balls to get extra possessions.  Three things that we haven't done all year.  Seems like something a coach would demand and work on. We've missed our free throws all year.  I'm tired of hearing we shoot them in practice.  How about improving the players form?  I assumed that was one of the things coaches were paid to do. In my opinion, Mike Woodson and his staff are guilty of coaching malpractice.

Seen that quote a few times. It’s so over his head. It’s kinda sad. He’s starting to embarrass himself and nobody wants that.

This is the difference between the NBA and college basketball. In the NBA, players missing shots is a valid excuse because all of the players are ridiculously good and very little coaching is required. That **** doesn’t fly in college basketball. Woody expects everyone to play like they are in the NBA, which is why we keep getting the same lame-@$$ answers after games. He honestly doesn’t understand that it is different in college and players actually need to be coached. This is why you don’t hire someone with zero college coaching experience to coach your team the same way that you don’t bring a knife to a gunfight.

We I call Woodson a freaking liar!  We made shoots!  We shot 51% from the field and that should be good enough to win many games but you have to take care of the fundamentals of basketball, rebounding, shooting free throws, limiting your turnovers, getting the 50/50 balls and getting decent production from your role players.  This team has absolutely done none of that all year.  Not one of the above intangibles have we done consistently or at all.  Mike Woodson and staff needs fired and now!

I hate everything about this team aside from the potential of Cupps. Start fresh...keep McNeely

The only way to keep McNeeley would be for us to hire a big name. Even then the odds of keeping him committed would be slim. Maybe have to retain Walsh AND hire a big name.

I’m surprised we haven’t heard rumblings of a decommit already. As it sits now, he’s not going to be winning much at Indiana.

How could you know this? I assume you're speculating? That's fine but nothing concrete.

Worrying about things like what players or recruits think is what got us Davis. Just have to find the best coach and either the players stay or he finds others who fit.

Woody indicates that it’s the shots not dropping to include free throws. Yes that’s true Coach but c’mon you know (I think) that there is sooo much more to presenting a good product on the floor up to and including your own prep, enthusiasm and all the other leadership adjectives.

I’m not arguing that. Just mentioning to the quoted poster that we likely wouldn’t keep McNeeley if we move on from woody.

This on the Daily Hoosier says it all!  “…Indiana succeeded to familiar struggles”.  It may as well say, IU’s lack of good fundamentals in basketball reared its ugly head again.  I think I just figured out what the hump is, lack of fundamentals!
