I think if IU loses to Rutgers and Penn State this week IU will be 1-3 in Big Ten play I think Dolson pulls the plug and fires him. Granted IU should beat Rutgers but if they go 0-2 this week Woodson will be canned before USC in my opinion.

I will be surprised if he gets fired that quickly… I’m not a math guy but I think the probability of losing to both RU and PSU would be fairly below 50%. To my eyes though, PSU is a sure loss and RU is basically a push. I give a slight nod to RU because of their star power and the just absolute decay of IUBB we’ve seen the past 1.5 seasons. I assume he’d have to lose a lot more games to be let go, and when he is let go it will be dubbed as “retirement.” If it’s around February maybe they link it to something like knee surgery or generic family/health reasons. Going to be an interesting conference season between a potential long losing streak, including hosting Dusty and Michigan

No shot.  The only way he gets fired mid-season, is because we lose 10 straight games as Torvik currently projects us to between Jan and Feb.

I don't think we will, and Woodson makes it to the end of the year.

Yep just wishful thinking from frustrated fans.

I’m virtually certain PSU game will be a loss since I’ll be there lol. Rutgers I think we should win but can very easily see Harper and Bailey go off on us. Things are about to get interesting! I hope we avoid the worst case scenario

I want a flaming, dumpster fire **** show during the B1G season so there is no doubt Woody is done...

Everybody better start shopping in bulk at Sam's Club and Costco for upset stomach medicines because you'll need them when he announces his exit full of self-congratulatory phrases.  I brought IU back to the table.  I got IU over the hump.  (mark my words he'll use that gd phrase).  His will be bad enough, but Dolson/Whitten will have to issue obligatory similar thank you for all you've done statements.  Stock up early.  Supplies will be limited in March.

How about I finally got them over the hump

I am so tired of that phrase and now I heard it from a Colts ayer saying they just can't get over that hump

If he wants to get the full buyout compensation he sure as heck will. 100% that a 'don't trash IU' clause will be written into any separation agreement.

I think it’s waaay too late for that. Woody’s trashed the  program and culture from Floyd Knobs to Munster!!! He owes TJD an incredible debt for covering up all the incompetence and dysfunction to get him 2 extra years - administrative malfeasance it wasn’t just 1.

…ok, I know it’s just the ‘separation clause’ where it kicks in, but this guy should appreciate what a gift he’s been given to get this position, power,  platform and resources for FOUR yrs based on his background and go away both quietly and gracefully. In good faith, he should refuse any further compensation b/c he purportedly cares  about his Alma mater…and its going to take a boatload of $$$ to get over the hump he built driving things into the ground.

The $16-18M that he soaked us for should help ease his pain... but the it's the fans that got left in his wake.

This convo really makes me want to start a topic on players whose potential was wasted over the last 8 years.  We know Woody is a terrible coach what could a good coach or moderate coach have done with him.

This is an interesting thought exercise. We get to see it play out with Bates and Banks this season. Put TJD on any competent coach’s team with a good backcourt and you’re probably winning a title - UNC comes to mind if you swap him and Bacot. This one may be a hot take, but… you put Trey Galloway on Matt Painter’s team starting 4 years ago, and he’s the player Braden Smith was hyped to be this preseason IMO.

Yep.  $3-4M/yr at IU with the big status head coach title vs $1M/yr as an NBA assistant.  It’s never been about returning IUBB to national prominence or whatever made up stories we got.  It’s about an extra $17M over six years vs his dead end NBA career.

Would be smart for Woodson and IU to part ways. Woody can golf in FL, AZ, CA in February instead of being stuck in the cold

I’m sure that never crosses Woody’s mind (sarcasm font)

Seriously, look at Armond’s face on the bench and tell that guy me ain’t dreamin’ of Scottsdale.

I think X was a headcase regardless of the coach.. I think he is 2nd to Woody for being detrimental for the program... JMO...

The TJD and Ware development narrative was likely nonsense.  With those talents, it was a matter of time until they figured it out, yet the pro-Woody crowd latched on to the idea he was a player developer because they didn’t have much else to celebrate.

And of course, this broken program did a poor job with a long list of players.

My oldest daughter was at IU in the early '90s and she said that she saw Todd Lindeman at several "house parties" during the basketball season...

Damn you must be old lol. That’s when I was there early 90s. Made it easy for players to have fun back then no social media…cell phones recording everything. Simpler and better times in my opinion.

NOT AZ. I'd lobby the Arizona legislature to make Woodson a "persona non grata", and post pictures of his lazy @$$ at all ports of entry.

(I'm half way kidding.)

I can’t believe that Woody wouldn’t have brought a new person in for that position in the first place. He’s just lazy and didn’t wanna do any work. With NBA ties I would think maybe he bring in a trainer from one of the NBA teams he’s work with and put them in that position. Could’ve been a great selling point for recruits. FIRE WOODSON BEFORE 2025!!!!

Woodson pronounces the S in Illinois. You’d think after all these years someone in his circle would kindly inform him of the fact it’s silent.

To be fair, the last time a coach corrected him, there were apparently punches thrown haha

Dude had everything handed to him to build a great program.  But then he started "working" and we found out it was just an empty suit.  What a waste.  Frustrating.
