Sounds promising. Any relation?

Brad will laugh at our overtures. His second cousin Ben will have to do. GET ME A STEVENS!

Hell, Sufjan would do cause at least he's a Stevens! (which reminds me; Carrie and Lowell is a fantastic album)

I'm guessing it's a disaster behind the scenes.  As fans we hear some of the stories, but for those in the athletic dept and very close to the program, they probably know 3x more stories and they know they're true.  I doubt the pro-Woody camp will have much of a case at the end of this year.
Quinn got Woody a big pay day and 4th year, but that's probably it.  The bad on court results, failed recruiting, and endless stories of incompetence will be too much to overcome.  Fingers crossed Scott is allowed to make this hire and he gets it right.
I am sure it's beyond a shitshow but the king just offered a kid a scholarship last week. He has every intention of being back. Remember he is surrounded by yes men who tell him how great he is. He likely thinks all is well.

1. You kick the tires on BS and make sure he knows this will most likely be the last time. He’s already been out of college a long time. IMO, he says no this time, that’s it.

I get where you’re coming from and not the worst pitch if delivered right by the right person.

But I’d love to be in the room for it. There’s gotta be at least a 50% he laughs and points out IUs been saying that since he was wearing a Depauw uniform.

Can’t remember Woodson ever beating a team by a wide margin like this….certainly not in the last couple of seasons.
Beating a good WKU team by 40 points is exactly what gives your NET rankings a big boost. Woodson and his teams still haven’t figured out that just winning is not good enough, you need to beat these teams by a large margin. In fact, just about every mid major team we win against, we drop in metrics because we always underperform. Think about it, our winning against teams like Winthrop and Chattanooga is actually a NET negative. Idk, maybe Woodson’s teams just aren’t good enough to beat mid and low majors by a wide margin…but it’s pathetic and again points to the notion that there is a serious disconnect with the Team/Program.

The talent is there to beat these teams by 40 but you said it, there is a big disconnect with the team and program and it is MW.  The team doesn’t play a cohesive unit, they tend to play more for their individual stats and chasing the Benjamin’s!  There is no leadership and work ethic!  That all falls on MW because he’s too lazy to actually coach, run a program, and hold his players accountable.  Although I heard a rumor and I don’t know if it is fact, but the reason why Ballo didn’t play was he was out partying all night.  I bet he starts next game

He's going through the motions.  And it's really not to hard for him to do -- the assistants do most of the recruiting, and he just shows up for an hour or two when the kid is on campus (assuming it's not wine and pizza time).

Just to be different…what are people’s thoughts on Wes Miller?

He was a hot name a few years ago. He hasn’t tore it up at cincy but they’ve been solid. They did a serviceable job last year, their first in what was a brutal Big 12. Also , I have to think the NIL era is tough on a place like Cincinnati.  They’ve been just outside the tourney the last couple years.

Maybe not hot enough for UNC like before but good enough for IU???

Send our A-Team, Scott and Pam, to talk with Brad and Tracy.  They will know how to make our best pitch. ;)

1. Wes Miller- Can almost certainly be had

2) Shrewsberry- Can probably be had

3) Otzelberger- Can probably not be had

Otzelberger's buyout is likely $18M+ after his latest extension.  As you said, not gonna happen.

  1. $10 million buyout after this season. Along with what we'd owe Woody that's possible but a bit of a hindrance.
  2. Private school - terms not public, but yes ... agree.
  3. $20 million buyout after this season. So no.

Yeah, their AD has a reputation for really tying his guys up. Read somewhere that Matt Campbell’s most recent extension makes him basically un-poachable.

Him, but more importantly whatever they do with strength and conditioning.  Same guy with Woodson and Miller.  Same problem shooting.  I can connect the dots.

That’s been an issue for quite some time and pointing fingers at him is a theory.   Didn’t Crean bring him in?  If so, when and how did Crean’s team shoot that year(s) he was there for Crean?

Hard pass on Shrewsberry.

I could eventually be convinced, but an awful lot of candidates would have to say no first before I'd give him an interview.

I’d bring back Archie or Crean first.

I really like Otzelberger, but I see him as 100% unattainable.

Wes Miller is my Brad Stevens. I would’ve hired him when they hired Woody and I would have seriously considered him when they hired Archie. Great still-young coach and I love his temperament for the job. He solves your issue for 25 years.

But remember, with the last contract extension, Woodson's payout is $1M/year... that helps somewhat with cash flow.

I looked him up. His bio says he’s been 8 years.  So 4 with miller and 4 with woodson?  If crean did bring him in it was at the end.
